Still playing MOO; any suggestions for something better?

Talk about strategy games like MoO series, Civilization, Europa Universalis, etc.

Still playing MOO; any suggestions for something better?

#1 Post by toller »

I have been playing MOO for the last 16 years.
I eagerly bought MOO2, but found it too complicated.

MOO has a lot of flaws, but I can't find a game that I enjoy that isn't too darn complicated. The original Civilization and Railroad Tycoon were good, but just like MOO they had many silly flaws.

So, now that you know what I like, do you have any suggestions for a better game than MOO (or Civilization or RT) that won't be too complicated for a simpleton like me? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

My kids think it is hysterical. They take the games I try and reject as too complicated and say they are too simple to bother with. They also ski better than me. Oh well.

Some older games you may like:
  • Ascendancy (search for "dos game ascendancy" at google)
  • Imperium Galactica (did not find a free download, maybe on ebay?)
Newer games:
  • Railroad Pioneer
  • Sid Meier's Railroads
Some free games:

Sword of the Stars plays a lot like MOO 1 with more modern graphics and a few other... twists... ;)
