I hope they'll "address" the issues the 3rd game had. (broken espionage system, idiotic planet types, terrible gui for combat)

Ah well.

Here we go again. Waiting a year or more for it to come out.

Then being dissapointed when we see the horror unleashed before our eyes.

That's your job and somebody has to do it.

I'd hardly call that an announcement.

Nice graphics skillz though ;-)

I wonder if they are gonna change some of the features that didn't work.

They would have to make some changes, but the problem is that its not one specific area, but the whole game that was the problem. Too complex and too bland.

Sword Of The Stars looks like it would be more like Moo4 should be. They should take some ideas from that game or make the game from Moo2, rather than from Moo3.

The unrest system was the biggest flaw in MoO3. Then there's the espionage system. Honestly there really weren't THAT many flaws. But they were F'ing huge.

I coudn't get into the game really. It was wierd the way building things worked. When your planet had enough population you could put buildings in certain zones (this took me a while to figure out that was why I couldn't build buildings on new planets). I didn't know what most of the buildings did anyway, except industry, mining, the obvious ones.

Then I would build ships. But it would take too long to meet another race, to use your ships. Travelling to other planets, even through starlanes took too long. Plus starlanes mean't you were forced down a linear path.

Research did spit things out too fast. Plus I hate that % method of research. Choosing your techs is more fun. Spying was wierd, they had their different stats, that I didn't want to care about.

Yep, those things made it bad.

Now, I hope they have a different design team this time. And different beta testers. Bah, I remember the stories they told us about playing the game (this was on the Moo3 forums). They assured us the game was perfect. But they were wrong. Our reservations were true, that the game was not good at all.

Oh well though. On with the next try. :)

umm... guys?

did you look at the date? I know pd posted a little in advance for the rest of us, but this is definately an April Fools post.

For just a moment, I was truly scared.

Well, ok I did wonder about the website name being non english, etc.

I think Moo3 truly killed the possibility of anyone making a Moo4 anyway.

I'm not really sure. I think there's a possibility they still might. But I dunno.

If we're Lucky MOO3 will have devalued the name enough that Atari will dump the rights to MOO4. They could then be liberated to make
MOO 4: Free Orion

(Yeah, won't happen, but if one of us wins a mega millions Lottery....)

Atari is pretty much dead. Look at their stock prices.
