This thread is being created because of the beauty of DOGA (and it's ease of use!!), and to display any ships created with this for the free orion project. Please post your ships and/or animations created using this here.
DOGA (L1- L3) can be downloaded here (L1 is free, the rest is shareware).

example format:

Here is a ship I made using DOGA (L1): http://zanzibar196.org/images/ship1.fsc

Here is an animation showing this ship in motion from different angles: http://zanzibar196.org/images/ship1.avi

Since L1 is so easy to use, I suggest that all future models be created this way (it's pretty simple, and you can export it to 3dstudio...)

Wow, that is a pretty nice ship, textureless, it looks nice that way.

Btw, why do those "lasers"(hehe, jk) shoot out of the landing pads?

Btw, is that a cockpit? They move like capital ships, so that window is HUGE.

bleh... I used a pre-generated animation with that and just put my ships in place of where the ships that were supposed to be that came with the pre-gen. My next effort at creating an animation is much better... you can find it at:

http://zanzibar196.org/images/ship2.avi

and here's the file that generates the ship: http://zanzibar196.org/images/ship2.fsc

as far as cockpit goes... well, it's just a matter of scale... it's actually supposed to be just a small fighter, but well... a big red ship... what more can I say? ;)

That is a cool one too, but I don't understand that use of the work generate, didn't you have to model it?

of course I modeled it, silly!! But there's an animation editor that allows you to just throw the model right into a pre-determined loop. I just used one of the loops that comes with the software instead of making my own in the first one. Heck, go download the L1 software and play with it yourself ;) Anyhow... here's some more ships and still pics (sorry, running out of room for AVI's...

Here is a complete set I made... maybe could be included in v0.2?? Anyhow... clear progression from scout to mark 5 (includes colony graphics). And remember, DOGA has an export function which I haven't played with, but should be exportable so the model is compat with whatever we're gonna use at free orion. Made with DOGA L1. NOTE: I hade a mollusc based species in mind when I did these...

I really like your designs.

You know, there's always a >but<

Can make your designs more smooth? I mean, they look squared.

Ronald.

Check out the roadmap in the design thread. We won't be incorporating ship designs until at least v0.4.

my critique:

I'd say the profusion of guns or "gun-like objects" detracts from the overall form. I'd rather see a more simplified approach and an emphasis on form than "more guns".

just my 0.02

Ya, I was wondering about those. As far as I know, though it isn't offical is that weapons won't be on the models. Just the general stuff, like engines.
Like I said, I am not sure if it is offical...

And for that smoothing part that leiavoia was talking about, you will have a LONG time to work on that...

Impressive. Ships are cool. Though it is true, that some ships (the ones with 3+ guns) could do with less guns, but still, very cool.

Those are cool. Though you said there would be less guns. Though they do still look good with all those guns (of which there are 'less').

Hey, for your next batch I wanna see some really flash ships. Gimme some curves, fins, body kit (he he) and aerodynamics.
