 Post subject: 2d Cards.

Hmmm, good point Drek - I just though of a warcraft 3 that wouldn't look so hot on a p2 400 if it was running on "Software Emulation". It has 2 chips chugging away at the graphics, while CIV3 only has one....

Never though of it that way...

Probably why the FO map screen looks so fluid... Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's using openGL for it's 2d mapping is it not? Smart idea if you ask me (but I'm not much of a programmer).

I guess there's other things too that make today's games require higher system specs... Windows OS getting heaftier and heaftier, more games using MP3's (so they can have more music and SFX), better AI (or at least, more time to compute algorithms). etc...
