Icons Requests
Re: Icons Requests
I was trying to match the bomb colors for some reason. My bad.
I simplified it, how's this?

Also Australia doesn't use them, they take stuff to the post office.MatGB wrote:Too culturally specific for me, I only found out what the red flag in old email clients was inspired by this month, most European countries, for example, have delivery slots in doors and you post letters in pillarboxes on the streets, etc. Dislike any icons in an SF game that require a fairly in depth knowledge of one specifc country/culture (and if I didn't know about the redflag/mailbox thing with all the US films/TV that I watch then it's fair to assume most non-US types are clueless as well).

Re: Icons Requests
It needs to be just cyan, with partially transparent fill, not dark blue fill. It's also probably too complicated in design in terms of number of curves used.Ta'Lon wrote:I was trying to match the bomb colors for some reason. My bad.

Re: Icons Requests
I took out a couple of the curves, and made the bow smaller.
Here's three versions: 50% transparent, 62% transparent, and 75% transparent on the blue fill.

Re: Icons Requests
The fill needs to be cyan, as in my example. Not blue.
Re: Icons Requests
My photoshop eyedropper tool detected the color in your concept image as the blue color you see in my previous examples when I opened up your sample image, hence the blue.Geoff the Medio wrote:The fill needs to be cyan, as in my example. Not blue.
Here are cyan on cyan versions.

Re: Icons Requests
Could you make the lines a bit thinner, similar to the other overlay icons earlier in this thread, and make the whole thing smaller within the area of the file?
There should be a bit more empty / transparent space around the edges, separating the icon from the borders.
Also, I think it's a bit too busy / complicated in the middle. The other icons are very simple in design. Perhaps removing the bottom portion of the ribbon, so it's just the box and loops at the top would help?

Re: Icons Requests
Committed... I think it was the 38% one?
Re: Icons Requests
Um, has Ta'Lon given a proper licence statement? I might have missed it, but can't find it anywhere...

Possibly not.Vezzra wrote:has Ta'Lon given a proper licence statement?
Ta'Lon, could you make a post, or edit a post, to state that you release your submitted icons under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 license?
Re: Icons Requests
What he said. I posted the artwork ideas above knowing full well they'd be going out into the wild. So any artwork that I have posted in this forum is hereby submitted under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License.Geoff the Medio wrote:Possibly not.Vezzra wrote:has Ta'Lon given a proper licence statement?

Except my avatar of course!
Will that do?
I'll keep the 38% figure in mind as a guide for transparency in future work. Unless you think it should be less? I don't mind submitting multiple versions so you can pick the best one.

Re: Icons Requests
I just picked the one with an alpha channel in the semi-transparent part that was close to the other similar icons. Icons / graphics for other purposes will have different transparency requirements.Ta'Lon wrote:I'll keep the 38% figure in mind as a guide for transparency in future work.

Re: Icons Requests
Another icon request: A magnifying glass to represent searching, with default, pressed, and mouseover forms.
Better would be if it was clear that any future posts are covered by the statement.Ta'Lon wrote:So any artwork that I have posted in this forum is hereby submitted under the CC-BY-SA 3.0 License.
Re: Icons Requests
Quick question while I take a crack at the magnifying glass thingie. Looking at the current graphics set, I do see that there are normal, hover, and clicked versions of the files, but in most (all?) cases the hover and clicked versions are essentially the same color/graphic. Do you want to see a color distinction between hover and click?
Also, what size file do you want the Magnifying Glass? 64x64,128x128, or some other size?
