I wasn't aware this was how it worked:
Which meant that because two of my stupid ships fired on the defences-free planet, the one that fired on the actual threat was the only viable target for that threat in round two, guaranteeing destruction (I'm using unarmoured stealth ships, they die horribly if they get fired at).
I'm not that bothered, but is this intentional/ideal?
Regardless, we need to have a better write-up in game for how stealth in combat actually works.
