We've just released FreeOrion 0.1. We hope you enjoy it as a taste of what's to come! It's been great watching this project grow. You can find more details on the release and where to download it in the release notes found in this thread:
http://www.artclusta.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=538

We invite you all to try it out. There are known issues, a list of which are in this thread:
http://www.artclusta.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=537

Please, we ask, that you don't announce our project to other news sites yet. You will find mention of this in the release notes.

Thanks for your interest in the project. This is a very early release, and we ask that you view it as such. We look forward to the times ahead producing FreeOrion as a complete, enjoyable game.

We'd prefer that you didn't, thanks. We want to have more to offer when the larger community comes to try it out.

Heh, i cant believe there are many people who are active OS-ers who dont already know about FO.

ATMoo now, thats a different story - you *should* fear some of those people finding out

Love the 0.1 btw. Very impressed with how much youve got in there and how sexy it looks. Makes me feel even more inadequate than i thought it would (and thats saying something).

on the other hand, you've got a very strong codebase for your project, probably much more advanced that FO. You just have zero graphcs yet, is all.
