please make it so that a normal human like me can compile it....
I posted before a thread where i had a problem with compiling, but each time i resolve one problem, another one apears...

atm i habe a problem with libboost...
Gigi wants 1.30.2 or higher and freeorion wants at max 1.30.2... the problem, on mdk 10 you have a rpm for 1.31.? but not 1.30.2.. ok, ive looked on the webserver for mdk 9.2 and there was a rpm for 1.30.0... but Gigi wont accept that.. now i cant do anything becaue libboost is extremely complicated to install from source...

so please please, for the next version, either, make something with the dependecies (like compile freeorion with libboost 1.31 and not 1.30.2) or/and make binary packages.... because now i cant compile it, or i could if i would invest several hours to make it work....
i never had a game/software that gave me so much troubels for compiling like freeorion

i guess it's rather difficult to do so for all the linux guys out there. But Yoghurt will tell you:-)

If you want an easy way, use Windows ;-)

But i guess is not an major goal to let everyone on every system compile fo as simple as possible.

You seem to have an very out-of-day version of FO. The "only 1.30" requirement for FO was removed months ago. Did you use CVS to get the source?

Oh, BTW: I will change the requirement of GiGi from Boost 1.30.2 to Boost 1.30

That's true.

It has many dependencies, but the new build-system seems to work fine by now. IIRC, some programmers here also use Mandrake and have no problems since the re-write of the autotools system.

This is a pre-release piece of software you're talking about. How many v0.3 games do you play?

I'm sure our dev team will provide as much help as they can, but please understand that you are working with software that won't be marked as 'stable' for quite some time.

And if it ever gets into the realm of stable/playable, you can bet there will be RPMs and DEBs for a quick install.

easy easy, i just wanted to tell you the problems i have/had with freeorion, its up to you to solve them or not, and i know that this is a alpha version of that game, i just wanted to give some feedback, thats all

and between, im using GiGi from the download page, not cvs.. but that was because the sf.net cvs for GiGi was down for several days, i'll take a look if its up again
