Ever since I made the change to 64 bit, the AI players just kept sitting in their home systems, they never moved. Based on some other thread, I remembered it might have to do with the python25.dll. After messing around for a while I got it working. You apparently have to do the following:
- install python 2.6.1(windows binary) from here
- backup the python25.dll from your freeOrion root
- replace it with the python26.dll(rename!) from your python directory
There is a another problem now with AI players being basically inactive after the first couple of turns, but my guess is, this is a problem with the AI code not being up to date with the fuel system.

I hope to get back to this when I find the time.
