I have Windows XP SP2 and this problem came with version 3.1.4.
Now, it persists with 3.1.5 so I ask you an advice to resolve.

When I start FreeOrion, It appears a dialog box with message:

Quote:
Microsoft Visual C++ - Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: F:\Programmi\FreeOrion\freeorion.exe

R6034
An Application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Then when I press OK:

Quote:
freeorion.exe - Errore di applicazione (translation: Error in application)

Applicazione non correttamente inizializzata (0xc0000142). Fare click su OK per chiudere l'applicazione.
(translation: Application not correcltly initialized (0xc0000142). Press OK in order to close the application.)

I have installed:
  • .NET 1.1
  • .NET 2.0 SP 2
  • .NET 3.0 SP 2
  • .NET 3.5 SP 1
  • .NET 4.0
  • Visual C++ 2005 (various versions + SP 1)
  • Visual C++ 2008 (various version)

I try to analize freeorion.exe with "dependency Walker" in order to find a DLL missing.
It declared "MSJAVA.dll" missing.
So I download a version of this file and put it in the freeorion directory, but the "Dependency Walker" tells me that the version is incorrectly.

Can you help me?

Thank you

Something weird is going on. I don't have a MSJAVA.dll in the list of dependencies, and FreeOrion doesn't use any Java.

Did you have any previous versions of FreeOrion installed on that system before v0.3.14? It might help to delete everything in the FreeOrion directory / uninstall first, and then reinstall fresh.

The fact that you've got MSVS 2008 installed, apparently in multiple versions, makes me think that might be part of the problem. Did the MSVS 2008 redistributable installer work properly when you installed FreeOrion? Perhaps it's finding the wrong versions of the runtime library for some reason?
