Either I'm very bad at finding game modes (which is a possibility), or there is no support for hotseat multiplayer in FO. This feature would make the game much easier to test, since it would be possible to easily play a multiplayer game with one's self. Also, hotseat multiplayer is a very common feature in such games, and it seems like a bit of an arbitrary omission to me.

Edit: Wait - is our combat system even going to be compatible with hotseat multiplayer?

It's been discussed having "Autoresolve Combat" as a game set-up option.

This would make hot-seat and play-by-email games possible.

You can quite effectively play hotseat by hosting and joining a multiplayer game at localhost. Multiple freeorion clients running on the same PC will be able to see and connect to the same server process. You can then switch between the two to play out each turn. This is easier to do while running in windowed mode.
