Hello everybody,

since you are developing FO for many platforms (including MacOS), i was wondering if you ever thought of a iPodTouch/iPhone version of the game - actually a round based game would fit perfectly for that kind of platform. Well i would LOVE it :)

The codebase modifications would probably be extensive. This is not likely to be considered until after v1.0, if ever.

Well, that would be too much work i guess - would have been cool tho.

At any rate, i like the project and i was wondering if you are in need of some concept art - basically i draw pretty much everything. And if you are still looking for some designs...

Something more realistic would be the FreeOrion game engine running on the OpenMoko linux distro, which runs on (amongst other things) the FIC Neo 1973 and the FIC Neo FreeRunner cellphones.

The entire distro is built on an open linux stack, so all that would be needed is a simple port and a total reconstruction of the UI to fit the format (hard as hell).

For some info on the FreeRunner, which will begin selling within a few months, check out http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Neo_FreeR ... 2_Hardware and other pages on that wiki. Things to note are graphics card, good ram, 400mhz processor, 480x640 screen and WiFi. What would be a serious limitation is, of course, processing power and battery drain. It'd be cool to work on after the rest of the roadmap is completed though!

As much as i detest iPods and iPhones and really anything that Apple makes and the sheep mentality that seems to follow everywhere (pun intended), I suppose it would be a better way to get the game out there...but like Geoff said, that would require an extensive amount of work and the payout for that work would be relatively low. If (big if) the coders ever got around to changing the code to be supported by something handheld, I'd prefer it to be supported on more than just one kind of product marketed by one company that everyone seems to idolize.
