Maybe we could have a alternative zoom option, like instead of scrolling the mouse wheel in our out, we could click and hold and create a selection rectangle and when we let go that selection fills the screen?...My scrollbar on my mouse is kinda sticky

You can use the e and r keys to zoom in and out.

You can also go into the options screen, galaxy map tab, and turn on the zoom slider (near the bottom of the page), and use that without needing a scroll wheel.
