I was suggesting ideas, things we can pick and chose from. No, I wouldn't want the radar screen as the primary display necessarily (though if type of display Harpoon could be modified by someone to come up with a way to make it look better/zoomable, maybe...). But I don't think the scalable zoom feature of Homeworld 2 is going to work either. It is nifty, but is really hardware intensive, difficult to adjust, and doesn't add that much info value to a stategy level game.

I don't know what Harpoon is like, but here is Harpoon 4:

Looks like it uses a range of views. I'm not really into the blips on a map ideas though. And for this kind of game, I'd stick to Isometric 3D and not home world 3D.

Although with a phase time system you can have the real time part be in 3D with cameras going here and there to make the action look good. And keep it 2Dish in the give orders part. <see the phase time section at the begining of this thread or look at my signature>
