The Noirssah
Why they were created?
I am not dismissing anyone's race, but science fiction villains are comming to a point of unoriginality that I find kind of bouring. Races with an inversed moral sytem, or of "xenomorphs" beings are too used in science fiction. Therefore, I have tried to create a race which purpouse, although being to destroy the universe, is understandable - even for our alien human minds.

Story:
The Noirssah claims to be "the most ancient intelligent beings" of the galaxy. Although this state it's quite controversial and almost impossible to proove, it's very true that their race is sure old as few can claim, and accorind to the xenoarcheologists, even older than the mythic Orions. Accordint to the Biashiv, the sacred chronicles about the Noirssah , they were born in the planet Sah. Their civilization floudirsehd, and their mother planet became one wonder of the universe itself. Even the most little and insignificant artwork of the original Sah it's one astouding work of art and craft, and as they claimed "no two buildings were the same, not two spaceships were the same, not planet will never be the same as Sah was". They were vagely interest in the space, they were quite "Sahcentric". Then, they "were discovered" by the Orions. They were, in fact, the first species that the Orions met. Oh, powerfull, benevolent orions. The Noirssah looked at them condescendently, like children. But these children were more technologically envolved, and also,
quite more expanded in the universe. But even with that, the Orions became impressed by the Noirssah and soon they pacted together a peacy treaty and an alliance to take care "for the real weak races". The Noirssah and Orions worked as together, and soon the Noirssah became the right hand of the Orions. Thogether, they faced the innumerable dangers of the space, they colonised planets, they discovered younger races, although the Noirssah, secretive as they were, never wanted to be known by them. But little by little, the Noirssah also started to understand the orions, to admire the orions, to love the Orios. But...

"Orions... we, the Noirssah, we, the ones that loved you, we, the ones that would have made anything for you, we, that would have die for you, we, why we had to recieve such a cruelty as your blessing?"- The Biashiv, 34th line, 6th spiral, tome 10.

One day, the Orions, that almost loved the Noirssah so much as the Noirssah loved them, wanted to gave them their most previous gift, their highest goal. They accorded to be the subjects of an experiment that would change the course of the universe, forever. "they promised us that we will trascend, taht we will be one with the universe, that we will be the
highest star in the firmament... oh, Orions, we, that loved you, we, that worshipped you, why we had to recieve such a blessing?". Then, it happened. The Noirssah trusted totally in them. And something went wrong. Very wrong. The Noirssah were almost wipped out of the galaxy forever. In just few minutes, their glorious, their fasninant, amazing empire, was reduced to ashes, their citizens, to glowing energy, and their planet, Sah, to ashes. Some investigators associate this to the fall of
the Orions... the thing is, that after that, the Orions gathered the few survivals of this experiments. They named theirselves "the Noirssah". The orphans of Sah, the name of the planet, that also means "God".

In this sad day, in the galactic Senate, they claimed that they have been betrayed, used as mere cobayas of a cruel, unnecesary experiment, while the Orions promised them glory and eternity. THe Noirssah sweared revenge for the Orions, and the destruction of all their works in that day, known as the "beggining of the dawn". The Orions, ashamed for the massacre, result of their experiment and the loss of their best allies and friends, didn't had any moral authority to stop them from their auto exile. They went to the other corner of the galaxy, made a new colony, and re - started againg their civilization from zero, always looking to the stars, poisoning their hearts with vengeance, looking at the cooperation of the Orions wit hthe young species with envy and jealously, and finally, when the Orions dissapeared in the same way as they did, the Noirssah couldn't do other thing, but duplicate their hate for the orions, for repeating the same mistake againg, for doesn't leave them an solid aim for their
revenge, for leaving all the minor races in despair and chaos as they were left. Consumed by hate and sorrow, looking at how the new racess unconscious to the atrocities of the Orions were trying to rebuild what was destroyed, the Noirssah have took a resolution. Their pain will only end untill every remaining Orion work, untill every specie that worships them, untill every painfull memory about them will be lost. And if this mean the extermination of half of the intelligent species of the cosmos... so be it. They already losted much more than this.

Homeworld:
(Noname) When the Noirssah chosed their new world, they had in mine that Sah would be insustitutible. This is why, although they founded one with quite similar characteristics, they didn't gave it anyname. They usually reffears to it o the "Blank", "Void" or "Nameless". The more irreverent young Noirssah dare to call it "New Sah". The ones who does it, however, usually get hitten to the the point of internal wounds for it. It's considered pretty offensive. But, how it was the old Sah? Well, first, the curious thing is that it wasn't a planet itself, it was a moon with atmosphere orbiting a gas giant. This leaded to a planet divided in 3 clearly defined parts: the hot one, the dark one and the dawn, the
thin line between light and darkness, where a 90% of the Sah species were born. The Noirssah, however, were predators who hunted creatures of the twilight and hided in the dark part (although never quite far from the twilight, becausethe cold of the most remote zones was too harsh even for them). When they developed and created civilization, they creted a megapolis in the form of the ring that bordered all the twilight and a zone of darkness. For what the Orion chronicles said, the nocturnal beauty of it was totally amazing, the ancient Noirssah crafted every building and product with astouding creativity and art.
Nowadays, however, only an empty shell and fragments of it are left, and the Nameless planet is way more functional, although it's still contain some diverse old art pieces from Sah, some new ones and the most important thing, the Biashiv, their sacred book of secrets and history.

Aspect:
The Noirssah are both at the same time one of the most beautifull and scary creatures that popllates the universe. They envolved from a predator, however, its tactic to hunt was quite based in the camouflage and change of apparience. Their original form is kind of cross between a vampire and a lizzard, and of a perfect dark colour. However, their "wings" are the sensible organs of their body that camouflages them. THe Noirssah can create almost any image on them, and what is more
impressive, to animate this image. Their tehcnic became an art with the years, and this is why people say that they are the most beautifull and horrible creatures. This skill united to their telepathic empathy allows them to distinghuish what their preys love, hate or fear, and therefore, projecting the wanted image in their skin.

Nutrition:
The Noirssah, as well as many species in their planet, feeds from the energy of their victims. Like a 75% of the creatures that habited the dark side of their planet needs from the light and energy contained in the ligth side creatures, so they have developed the skill of to absorb and extract every minimum essence of their victims, leaved them dry. It's pretty disturbing to see how a Noirssah consumes their food. The temperature descents, darkness engoulfs the place and the food is slowly rotten untill it's reduced to dusk and bones. It's a pretty shocking process for any other race, even the Silacoids found it disgusting.

Society:
Their small telepatic / empathy powers have created societies of quite interconnected persons that at the same time, are quite fearfull of to have their thoughts stolen. This is why the secret is a central piece in their society. The official goverments means very little to them, the secret societies are what really control the Noirssah empire, and that have leaded to a history with very little open wars, but lot of traitions, betrayals, mithyc backstabbing and misterious murders. Another central key to their society is the Biashiv, "the book of secrets". Half legend, half history, this book is the Noirssah most precious pertenence, its said that it contains every legend, information and register of all the races of the universe, since the first intelligent race (the Noirssah, according to the Biashiv) was born. The Noirssah worship these chronicles, that have been disputed among the different secret societies since the dawn of time, although the vast majority of the Noirssah are atheists. The only divinity is the "entity of the Noirssah people", a kind of ultranationalistic feeling, the spirit of the Biashiv. Another quite spreaded cult (although a bit in decadence) is the cult ot the phantoms of Sah. It's a quite misterious and intrincate religion full of mythology, simbology and secret codes, and it's believed that the majority of the Noirssah's secret organizations practices one variant of this cult.

Strenghts:

Telepatic powers. The Noirssah presents some degree of telepathy, although it's not so strong as the mythic Elerian royal caste powers, theirs are a quite effective ones for sure, allowing to mind control vast zones of occuped popullation and a better spying

Spying bonus: Their social and gubernamental structure, heavily based in the secret organizations and the holyness of the secret keeping reinforces even more the innate spying abilities of this race.

Energy absortion: The Noirssah are a race with a supreme control in energy manipulation. For them, the extintion and transmission of energy it's something so normal as to feed. This ends up in (depending of how the Orion team decides to make the combat system, choose one of the possibilities):
1-The enemy ship shields recharges time multiplies per 2?
2- The enemy ships moves 1/2 slower when fighting against the Noirssah?
3- The enemy ships energy / fuel reserves it's a 50% lower when fighting the Noirssah?

Fear: Their terrible and changing image it's able to create a universal feel of fear or repulsion at will. This translated to combat results in a morale reduction of the adversary troops, and makes the other races hestiant to start a war against them.

Artistic: The Noirssah posses an incredible creativity that it's applied to every field, from the buildings to the design of
their ships. (Depending of the game balance):
POssibility 1: The good old creativity bonus "a la Psilon"
Possibility 2: The moral bonuses from their installations (holosimulator, pleasure dome, etc) doubles.

Weakness:

Pessimistic: Since the destruction of their homeland, Sah, the Noirssah had entered in a state of agony and struggle for their losted homeworld that will rarely dissappear. This is traduced in an negative morale spreaded through all their empire.

Vulnerable to light: The Noirssah are nocturnal creatures, and therefore the light damages their eyes and even to some extent, their bodies. This gives them a penalization of -15 in the combat at desert, barren or irradiated planets, as well as a -50% of gorwing rate in any colony of them in these kind of planets.

Orionphobic: The Noirssah hates with every fiber ot their body the Orions, the dammed race that leaded to the destruction of their homeworld and that once loved. Now all their devotion is turned into hate and anger towards this mythic race. This mean taht they won't gaing any orion technologies (neither Locknar and his Avenger) when they will reach orion, neither will be affected by the ancient artifacts (every Orion work has to be VANISHED forever). And needless to say, that also means that they are in a constant war agains the humans, the Orion descendants, or agains any Orion - related race or Orion admirers like the Trilarians.

Small planet: It was quite hard to find a moon with atmosphere like their Original Sha, but they did. Unfortunately, that also means that their initial habitat it's quite reduced.
