Its been 4 years.. Where does time go? Last year I had found this old document sitting on my computer, and updated it to be part of a Star Nation Roleplay. And oh did I update the hell out of it. A lot to read, and not much to say. Wouldn't mind if you guys used it as long as you don't slap copyright on it :P. Definitely going to give the new version a whirl then perhaps put some real game design down to make putting them in more viable if I find the time. Enjoy, its a long way down the rabit hole!


Physiology
A frayan is a blue colored creature with scale like feathers that way it down, a adult frayan is most ussualy 3-5 feet tall, a

frayan's body is meant to withstand a extremely crazy atmosphere, that this specices developed with.Their homeworld

which they developed on the ground level biosphere was always changing. At the worst every month it would change to

from 9% oxygen to 13% methane, or 8% hydrogen the atmosphere was ussualy miexed up with little bits of every gas, so

the normal frayan developed something similair to hemoglobin, except it did not just specificly capture oxygen it would also

capture methane, and hydrogen. The base stabalizer for this type of hemoglobin was heluim, so a frayan would have to

disgest it from other producers or consumers in the ecosystem.


In normal human circumstances a frayan would become dislluisional becuase their minds if unprotected have a overload

of ATP(energy or more like it glueclose) but they have 4 horn like structures jutting out of each frayan's head on the

outside they are weapons but on the inside them they have a small hollowed out space where a structure there produces

insulin to combat the excess gluclose if it ever happens, along with a organ that normaly regulates it(but doesn't work fully

it only keeps the frayan from going into a metabolic train crash). So if a frayan was in a human eviroment a frayan would

have increased stamina, strength, and maybe even increased eye frame rate and more. But at a large cost of food, and with

a potentail for bodily, and mental damage. If a frayan remains in normal human conditions, it would have to excercise

vigoursly in order for the frayan to go to sleep, along with that if the frayan worked enough it would require 4x the needs of

a male human (calorie wise) in a day. But frayans themselves would find such a situation very uncomfortable, most would

never want to be in such a situation. Since frayans are not great at cutting off excess heat, the main two areas where heat

is a dissapated is via the beek, and the pits where there is significantly less scales/feathers to stop heat from escaping.


A frayan is used to an average of 70Fh during a warm cycle of their homeworld, however during the cold cycle the

tempratures ussually drop to bone chilling 28Fh to -5Fh in the warmest regions.The bone structure of a frayan consists of

strong legs and weak arms, the main reason being their ancestors were able to temporarily fly in the air and use their paw

like feet to land unto their pray and start digging into the prey's flesh. They have a beak like structure for a mouth that has

small sharp teeth potruding the rubber like surface of the beak, apparently frayans prefer meat, but will also consume plants

if neccescary. The frayan's appendages consist of 3 claw-like fingers on each hand like structure which is in fact like a

flatened ball with bony tendrils expanding to the apendages, subsequently the fingers contain large viscous claws if

untreated and left to grow, most ussualy leaving the frayan unable to write with ink and paper. The arms of a normal frayan

male ussualy consist of an array of colors, used to impress females, but also add wieght to the arms.


Every frayan has a coat of thick sometimes almost metallic like scales, to deflect some types of harmful radiation. The

inner coat however is not so protective, and if the outer layer was damaged in the native enviroment of a frayan, then it

would perish within days. This makes mating especially hard for a frayan they would ussually go to deep caves in order to

commit these rituals.A frayan walks erect on its two legs, ussualy even leaning on it's legs for support, the arms are not

used for heavylifting traditionaly they use back packs, or rigs to transport heavy equipment by foot. A frayan is at most

unattractive, due to its scale coat, and large legs, and seemingly small upper body.A frayan, Due to the fact they were

once at the core of the galaxy have eyelids up to .5 inches thick so that a frayan may sleep. Frayans do not breed alot due

to the harsh conditions their bodies adapted to in native times, they have half the breeding capabilites of humans.

Physchology: A frayans mindset is honour the flock before all,this may sometimes divide and unite the frayans. A frayan will

want to be part of a group, it will contain a leader, a second in command, a shaman like figure, a warrior class group, and a

worker class. The group will consist of 15 frayans to sometimes even 300 frayans or more depending on the situation. A

frayan that is alone is not much good, but put 3 frayans together and a vast improvement occurs morale wise and efficiency

wise. Frayans will share all their knowledge to the flock no matter what, it is a matter of instinct rather than choice, and so

if a crime is committed within a flock it will be easily determined whom comitted the crime and how they will be punished.

But if a small flock of thieves(15) steal from a large flock of 500 then the they will certainly lie to protect the flock. Frayans

will travel in whole flocks from solar system to solar system if need be to stay together, a flock always sticks together for

better or worse. This may make governments at times shakey ussualy a large flock consisting of 300-800 frayans will take

over the government, they will however rely on other flocks, to build, protect, and maintain the country, or empire. Frayans

in sense do not feel joy, but they do feel humor, it is ussually a prized gift for courting, but poetry or mere intelligence may

take its place. A frayan will most ussualy make comments to an average human like"your legs are on backwards", and

strange insertions of dry humor at the most dire times like "break a leg, you'll need the luck". Frayans are at times cold and

calculative while at other times loving and caring, when at work the frayan turns him or herself into a almsot machine like

entity, to keep up with the standards, but when at home they will pour out their love to the family.

assasin specialists, or 68 factory workers. The point is whatever flock you are in, it defines who a individual frayan is,

From Stone to Steel
If a alien speices were to observe the development of the Frayans, they would find that the frayans were quite a unnatural

species, from the technological and archetiecteral ruins; to the absolutely extreme and strange biota; the frayans were

indeed born a space faring species, with such structures as the hyperdiamond bridge, which could take unfathomable tonnes

and tonnes of weight(Now hyperdaimond is used to make space elevators and ship shielding agianst micrometorites at near

light speeds speeds)the Frayans had their suspicions from the start. Eventualy the frayans were able to leave their planet

in a great exodus to colonize new worlds. The advent of this great exodus was when a AI computer found a strange

sequence in the frayan's DNA known as the Sarin code, it was found that the sequence repeated certain parts of pie, and it

took another five centuries before the frayans were able to turn it into comprehensible data. When the scientist flock

started to read it the first line said "Beware the Children of Chaos, from Fraya" and so the religion of Fraya started, uniting

all the flocks of the world for the first time ever. From then on everything that was most valued from the name of their

species to their home planet, was named Fraya. The Sarin code provided many technology leaps and warnings, the species

avoiding technological landmines and racing ahead towards new techs, with their efficient and fast thinking they were able

to advance to a spacefaring culture within 68,000 years.


The Exodus
The three major religous flocks of frayan society had called for a exodus to unite with the stars; by now the old

government's influence was all but mute, and acted as the organizing force for the exodus. During this time there was few

ship wright flocks, the demand had made these few flocks overwork themselves, but after awhile stress was relieved as

other flocks were priotoritized towards colonization capacities. 80 years after the call for expansion FTL was atlast

perfected, and new flocks were created just for colonization. These flocks were geneticly modified for 3 times the breeding

rate, at first most standard frayans saw them as whores a dirty worker class tool to be used for one purpose only. However

after awhile the religous flocks justified these discriminated flocks, saying that to hate upon flocks that were designated for

the journey, was to hate themselves since indeed the frayans were not a natural species. The first five instellar ships with

FTL were created, Tarcadia, The Albatross, Attitica, Viceroy, and Golden Hour.


The down fall of the Frayan empire
The frayans adapted easily into most planets expanding rapidly, at their pinnacle, the Frayans had just over 200 stars. The

empire was great and had absorbed many other speicies into their fold, adding to cheap labour and expanding the frayan

trade. It was a prosperous time, and so at the frayan home system a mega project started, that would take two thousand

years to finish, the creation of Golden Hour in honour of one of the first intestellar ships created. It was decided to create a

ringworld, a massive undertaking that could span over the Millenia. The project took 2,345 years to finish however when it

was done it was a sight to behold, over a 1000 trillion frayans inhabited the megastructure easily with room to spare, and

was the benchmark of Frayan achievment. The frayans had long ago surrendered there cities to nano science, some radical

models were even able to remodel themselves, into completely different structures within a day. Wide ranges of implants and

active medical devices within themselves, such as nano bots made frayans as a whole were wide open for disaster that was

completely unexpected. However from the reaches of darkspace, a plague came, one of great power and undenaible hunger.

It was a plague that had no name, because it was always different, but always the same. It was something that traveled in

the fastest way possible, by messages over varuois wavelengths, but whatever it was it had no purpose other than to find

purpose. Machine and oraganics alike would be strewn together into statues of horror, towering skyscrapers broken or

reshaped as if an artist had twisted the paparets of clay into grotesque gothic fantasies, and ships hulks of rust and slime

ebbing across space. Examination of recent archealogic ventures have revealed little, leaving only theory to explain what

the plague was. It was both organic and machine, it binded both yet did not need both, it absolutely over writed all prevous

coding and created random and mishappen creations, did things absolutely agianst its pre-existent nature all a means to an

end, eventual destruction of function of both organic, and non-organic components of civilization.


5,853 years passed(this was because all FTL systems, plus stargate type transportation was shut down due to high risk of

infection and thus sublight means were used to travel back, infact many are most probably still on their way ranging into 8

billion more survivors)and atlast the remnants of Frayans civilization, mostly rogue miners, and extremist religous sects have

returned home, numbering to a lowly 18 billion left in the entire galaxy, they have began to pick up the pieces. With new

qauritine mesaures that would easily prevent the same thing happening again, even though at the hieght cyber security was

at it's peak. A fleet of arks was built numbering to 600, that would hold 400 million frayans in the fetal stage per ship, if

the current reconstruction were to fail it would be actiavated and the far corners of the galaxy, and beyond to other

galaxies would be targeted. All ships have been flung to stable areas of deep space, and since then two outer colonies have

been established however advancement towards repopulation has been slowed, and it has been decided that the source of

the attack on frayans would be found and eliminated before any other action is taken. Large operations to recover lost

data, equipment and anything to help discover the advent of the plague are in order, it will be a long and tiring journey, for

a long lived and tired out species.


Ships
Class Starghosts: these ships were named as such since the first two prototypes crashed into distant stars, however before

they died they sent out a distress signals that were utterly pointless. These ships have only recently come into service

since the early days, reaching to 85%the speed of light at their peak and are ussualy kilometers long. The sole purpose of

star ghosts are to be the sentineils of Frayan space, a total opposite to their FTL counter parts. The massive ships are only

crewed by a few sometimes ranging up into thousands of crewmen. Since the creation of stargates, these large multi-

purpose Deep space ships can also be used for offence. The reason for creating drives capable of reaching such high speeds

in the first place, was to prevent the absolute dependence on FTL and Stargate technologies, few other species can match

such speeds since they have found no need to create such costly things. But there were also warnings in the sarin code,

that it was possible to Jam modes of FTL, even their seemingly unstopable method of FTL. And so the Frayans have best

decided not to put all eggs in one basket. Starghosts are also used as large frieghters easily able to transport millions of

colonists, and unfathomable tons of equipment they are built to be verstaile representing the peak of frayan technology,

they can infact develop and research new technologies on board the ship, able to change shape, and hull density.

Starghosts achieve this by partly integrated nano bot hulls, and they use of millions of construction bots, Starghosts can

mine, and even construct other ships/ weapons to a multitude of degrees.

Class StarStalker
a FTL equiped multipurpose exploration ship. Can be crewed with as many as 500 personel, used for varouis archealogical

digs, to scouting new palnets viable for colonization. The militarized variants have have heat syncs, to dampen excess heat,

and can make it entirely blacked out on thermal imaging given a few minutes. these ships are ussually given anti-matter

drives which can take a few days to cross a system with.


Stargates
A large cylindrical object skinny at the middle, like a dumbell, I will come up with something scientificy but atm all I have

imagined is some crazy object at the middle inside the structure that is at 50% progression towards being a black hole mass

wise, and is used as a large tug boat for ships.


FTL Drive
Background info: OK now Dark matter, creates(or expands) space at the edges of universe. Now Dark Matter takes up

almost or over 75% of the universal matter content so in theory it shouldn't be hard to find it and contain it, but I doubt

that galaxies would contain much so a person looking to harness Dark Matter might have to go quite out of the way(if he

can even harness it with known matter) to obtain it, now since matter can't be destroyed I would assume hopefully the dark

matter wouldn't "run out" like a kind of fuel.

Theory/very vague way of how it would work
Now the FTL drive would be literally part of the ship, the ship would be

lined with some type conduits that have miniaturization tech to shrink what will be transferred(cross dimensional

teleportation could also work but sounds even more crazy). This system of FTL is bulky so atleast half the ship will be

occupied by the drive; it is also not advised for combat use, yes you can cover the ship with an asortment of defenses, but

if one componet of the FTL is damaged, not good. So now we have the dark matter contained, and the ship per say is

divided into two halves, the "front" part will Emmit the negative form of dark matter, now in theory space would be

destroyed, and then the back part (positive Dark Matter) would recreate space filling the hole and basicly teleporting the

craft forward. But when you stick in physics, matter cannot be destroyed so in fact we are displacing space, so when the

negative D-matter takes in space it is transferred to the conduit then shot out the back (Positive D-matter). Throughout

the process of FTL travel the craft is not in space.

Advantages/disadvantages of FTL travel with D-matter
So here we are in this vessel at FTL speeds, now you would think we are not in space.. or time, so in theory time has

stopped! But this is not true! The ship itself is still binded to space time since the entire ship is siphoning space throught it;

I guess that shoving space through your ship would cause friction, so you cannot run the FTL 24hrs straight or it will break

down. This ship may be binded to space/time but it may not be in it, the vessel cannot be detected, in the course of FTL

travel the vessel is not in a space medium for particles of any sort to be detected. Also displacing space means that if you

run into some matter, it will have to go through your ship, most objects can, but anything larger than a baseball and you are

screwed; so FTL routes must be planned with scutiny. This type of FTL is stealthy in some aspects, but can be slow

compared to other methods, and doesn't make for good assault ships. Average travel from persay Sol system to Alpha

Centari would take aproxitmately 4-6 days varying on the degree of the ship, and 3 days if the ship was a fast VIP vessel.

Repairing is a bitch and must be done via autonomously means. Large Dedicated AIs monitor and readjust the system, and

while midflight you are not allowed to eyeball what is outside the ship for reasons best left untold.
