Species Write-Ups

#1 Post by Sloth »

Here is the next step towards completing my quest of giving all species an ingame description: Scylior, Gyisache and Hhhoh.

I'm not an expert with the patching tool. My recent changes to the string table, make using these patches complicated.

The content of these patches is good and to the point.

No problem. Here is an updated version that includes both patches.

Eleazar just rename the "Gyisache" "Gysache." That would need to be changed again in Sloth's patch to maintain consistency.

What? How the heck do you pronounce "Gysache"?
Warning: Antarans in dimensional portal are closer than they appear.

The same way you pronounce "Gyisache" without the confusing "yi" pair.

Here is a small update because i noticed that the descriptions of the Hhhoh and Scylior were given to the wrong scpecies as a result of outdated patches.

Included is also a new description: Setinon.

EDIT: Patch is part of the next.

This is a cumulative patch containing the last one plus three more write-ups: Cynos, George and Trith.

EDIT: Patch is part of the next.

The "yi" pair isn't what was confusing about that species name being pronounced "Yee-Saish"... Now it just looks like "Gi-Satch" (or "Gi-Saish", if one was pronouncing it "Yee-Saish" before).

I've always thought "gee-satch-ee", or "gyee-satch-ee", but might now say "guy-satch-ee".

Regardless of the original intent, if there's a letter in there that's not obviously silent (g before y), I'm going to pronounce it.

And regardless of the original intent, I don't see a way to pronounce "-saish" (seye-sh, say-sh, sah-ish, ?) that would be a sensible interpretation of "-sache".

Making things intentionally (and pointlessly?) hard to interpret is another form of vanity spelling and best avoided.
