Galaxy Map Assignments

Programming will soon commence on the galaxy map screen....the meat of FreeOrion. We've got enough graphics available to put something decent together and we have lots of nice concept art of the planet panel. I'm going to work on the actual map screen myself. Is there anyone who would like to develop the planet sidebar based on drek's image #6?

These 2 modules will work in tandem, so we will need to coordinate a little bit. We will create 2 classes as the main portion of this: GalaxyMapScreen and PlanetBarWnd, but more classes may be added as needed.

Edit: I defer interested parties to the Galaxy Map Design Doc located at http://www.artclusta.com/bb/viewtopic.php?t=81

I'd like to do this. I was going to ask about it before you even posted it.
<aol>ME TOO!!!1!!1!</aol> ;)

Seriously: If the two of you can need a helping hand with Galaxy Screen and/or Sidebar, I won't refuse

As a note, I've offered to change the start menu to work as it should, as suggested by tzlaine and then refined by me in an e-mail in the leads list. Basically, when the game starts, you will have these menu options:

Single player
- Start new game
- Load game (unfunctional for now)
Multiplayer
- Join Game
+ Search for game (searches localhost, lan, then internet(disabled
for now))
+ Connect to IP
- Host Game
+ Straight to the galaxy setup window
Options
- Whatever options we want :)

That looks pretty good to me. What does "Straight to the galaxy setup window" in multiplayer section do?

Sorry, I modified it so the +'s represent items under the -'s. It was cut and pasted from my e-mail which showed the whitespace, but this didn't being html :)

So the galaxy window is a sub menu of host a game.

In case there are enough programmers to do the galaxy screen, I could also do the chat-window.

Tyreth, if your multiline-text-control is ready, drop me a line.

It's tzlaine working on the multiline edit, not me :)

Will do. I've already started on it, but I have to attend to some issues with GG first to make it easier to implement. I should have it complete by Wednesday.

I'd like to go into Universe and implement some of the TODO's, as well as the Execute() methods for the order classes.
I've been without a task for a while, and this seems to be one area of code which nobody is working on at the moment. Since I'm not on the universe team, I'm going to wait on the ok from somebody who is before I go implementing stuff.

AFAIK, it's Gustavo who is (was?) leading Universe.

I wonder where he went? :(

You may as well go for it.

C++ Programmer needed!

Duties
Immediate opening on the User Interface team of FreeOrion. Incumbent will be required to program the Fleet Management Window. This window must provide information about a selected fleet, and allow the user to split individual ships from the fleet, or form new fleets from these available ships. Coordination with the game design and graphics teams may be required.

Requirements
Incumbent must know C++, including, but not limited to, the STL, GG, and boost. Preference will be given to applicants with working knowledge of OpenGL. Knowledge of current FreeOrion source code a plus.

Inquiries
Please direct all correspondence to this board or one of the following:

- OceanMachine - Lead Programmer
- tsev - Lead UI Programmer

If this is deemed more important than the ChatWindow, I'm willing to slow working on the ChatWindow in favour of the FleetWindow. I know C++, STL, Boost, and GG, my OpenGL knowledge is limited; but at least I'm able to program a sphere lightend by a moving lightsource

Paying rates as usual: $0 / h
