If this is deemed more important than the ChatWindow, I'm willing to slow working on the ChatWindow in favour of the FleetWindow. I know C++, STL, Boost, and GG, my OpenGL knowledge is limited; but at least I'm able to program a sphere lightend by a moving lightsource

Paying rates as usual: $0 / h

Well we're not doing anything THAT complicated....yet. jbarcz1 has volunteered to work on the Fleet window, and he doesn't have anything else to work on right now, so I'd be more inclined to let him do it. Besides, it isn't really PRESSING. the galaxy map is well on its way, but it will be some time before you can actually open a fleet window from interaction with the map.

Doh, I just saw the age of the post I was replying to. Probably not relevant anymore.

So, any other jobs that need to be done? I want to do something.

Hi Marijn,

one thing i have in mind goes with galaxy shape generation. I introduced some basic code for it (spiral, cluster, elliptical). I'm not satisfied with my results especially on elliptical galaxies. You might improve this part.

As v.1 release is near, it would be nice getting fo as stable/bugfree as possible. Did you subscribe to freeorion-programmers mailing list? There you can see what's currently done and some open issues.

Ronald.

I'd love to do that. Random world generating is fun. And yep, I just subscribed to that list (and read some of the archives).

Could one of the big shots officially add me as a programmer? My sourceforge ID is marijnh.

I'll start working on implementing variable-size galaxies now.

By the way, is there any logical distinction between stuff that is posted on this board and stuff that is sent to the programmers mailing list?

I have checked both the forums and the mailing list and can't find a recent list of things that need to be done. Is there a list of things that need to be worked on or that are currently being worked on?

I saw a list of things to be done come by in the mailing list a while ago (a little after .1 got released I think), but that is probably completely outdated by now.
Maybe we should keep a structured list of to-do things somewhere, and let people check things out so no two people are working on the same thing at the same time. (still sore about my beautiful variable-size galaxy patch going to waste because Zach went ahead and implemented it before I submitted it)

Perhaps we could put it on the FreeOrion Wiki so it would be easy to update.

Great idea. I set something up:

http://www.freeorion.org/wiki/index.php ... mming_Work

Now, if the currently active programmers would take a moment to populate this the rest of us can also get some work done.

Don't know if I'd be better to ask on the wiki, but is there any specifications about "Implementing in game effects of focus selection"?

I don't think so. It's mainly spread through out the forum but details aren't decided yet.

It sounds like a no-task, as in "do what we decided, but we haven't decided yet"? Could anybody point me in a direction where there is something to do, as the boost 1.31 issue seems to be taken care of, judging from the mailing list.

As for focus, you could implement industy/research rate base on how foci are set. (see the tables at wiki) At this point as nothing about "what should happen when changing focus is changed" is decided, it would be the first step. Also i think planet food production isn't done yet. You might have a look at ProdCenter and PopCenter to see how it should be done. (I'm not sure about science production)

If you decide to do anything please send a message to programmer mailing list.
