It's supposed to be a mid-sized ship. Something you would build around turn 200 i guess.

Hope you like it. If not, well you will have to build it anyhow :)

@tzlaine: just tell me, what format you need this in and i'll try to provide it.

Nice!

(Big on enthusiasm, short on details. Sound familiar pd? :p)

Seriously though, I like that model a lot with the skin you've got on it. A lesser skin could've ruined it. :)

896(as shown above the wireframe renderings)

El Mongooso: Actually there are plenty of details, but most of them aren't visible at this zoom. I'll provide some detail shots tomorrow.

Didn't see that, really nice stuff.

So, are you going to attach turrets and such ingame?

I'm currently working on the Battletech simulator (under the name Stormwolf), we create models without weapons. The weapons are loaded ingame, this will basicly be reflected when the mechlab is up and running. It is possible to see what weapons your opponents have by looking their mechs (atleast if you are familiar with various weapons).

Here's a example (it's untextured so bare with it):

It would be cool if we could implement a similar system for free orion, ships would be visually more appealing if you could see the actuall weapon systems on them. It's better then just having missiles/energyblasts come out of a random piece of hull.

Actually i would prefer if the weapons are not added to the ship. You would only see the hulls in-game. I think that adding additional stuff could ruin the designs, especially since we will have different looks of ships(different races) but always the same weopons.

I think your ship looks really cool PD.

I agree that adding weapons, eg turrets, etc makes ships look bad. Some things are acceptable however, like the antenae sticking out of your ship. It makes the ship look cool.

That's why I've made it :)

note: Instead of replying, I accidently edited tzlaines post. So the quote is not exactly what he said.

I didn't get much response on this, for what ever reason. But i still think it might be interesting for some people to take a closer look. So I've uploaded a zip archive including the mesh(.3ds) and the 2 texture maps(color, self-illumination) in high res.

At least here's my response pd: It looks awesome. I would love to see that ship and a similarly themed fleet in the game.

Please keep the top-write sketch images of the ships - They look really nice, and it would be a nice touch to have some of these sketches / wire drawings as watermarks or miscellaneous pictures throughout the game... Exen if they are added in a Freeorion install I think they would look really nice.
