from http://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=2755

Edit: Method below isn't foolproof - the foolproof method can be found in a post below (http://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=37013#p37013) this was tested with a fresh instance of FreeOrion.exe

I reproduced it with this savegame by:

Clicking Production
Clicking an explored, but otherwise empty system.
Double clicking queue Colony Ship.
Clicking Homeworld

No more colony ships can be queued.

You need to select the destination first, before trying to put something on the queue... FIRST choose the homeworld, THEN add to the queue.

Please check the quick play guide before posting future "bugs".

edit: To further clarify: You've selected an empty system and expected freeOrion to know where you want to build something. If you open the production screen, you need to make sure there is a planet in the sidebar, that actually can build something(your colonies).

Tip: make sure to get some minerals or your productions will take for ever(and possibly never finish).

I started freeorion, clicked load game, double clicked the BugHunt.sav file, clicked production, clicked on Miaplacidus, double clicked colony ship, clicked on Talitha, double clicked colony ship, and a ship enqueued...

In v0.3.13, there should always be a planet selected on the production screen. The issues with autoselection of a planet not working in previous versions "should" be fixed. This autoselected planet won't always have a shipyard, since I think it picks the planet based on population, not shipyard-having, but in this test case, that's not an issue.

Yes, but there is no planet to auto select, if intentionally selects an uninhabited system.

His sequence of actions includes clicking the homeworld at the end, before being unable to enqueue colony ships. I assume this means clicking the homeworld system, since he's looking at another system at the time.

Edit: There is something weird going on, though. When I load the save, the top of the production queue has an unfunded colony ship with a weird messed up progress bar, that looks ever weirder when it's being dragged. If I drag it around the queue, it stays non funded. I can enqueue stuff after it, but it doesn't change. It seems to be being built at Talitha, since enquing something at another system and clicking between them moves the map view to Talitha when the odd item is clicked. ... Very strange.

Edit2: Note that I'm using a version that has all ship costs 1 RP / turn for 1 turn. Also, after hitting turn, the messed up / odd colony ship is built, despite it appearing not funded.

Right. Using the same sequence of actions, I can produce colony ships as well.

I have managed to end up unable to build colony ships in the homeworld. The steps Sai listed didn't do it, but it happened after switching to Gomesia and enquing an asteroid mine, and then back to Talitha. Opening and closing production, and changing systems or enquing buildings doesn't seem to make a difference.

I can reproduce it now as well by clicking on Gomesia and then back to the homeworld. I can enqueue buildings, but no ships. Nothing helped to solve this, not even going to the next turn.

Method to reproduce the error with a fresh instance of FreeOrion.exe

While I was unable to reproduce that error in the game after having restarted FreeOrion, I was able to reproduce it after sending a colony ship to a new system, doing it in the way described, after colonizing a world.

(I click 'Production' and then the Colony Ship)

Load my game BugHunt
Remove all but the first Colony Ship from the production Queue
Click Turbin
Click Colony Ship a lot
Click Turn 10 times
Send the newly produced Ship to Montra
Colonize Montra III
Click Turbin
Click Colony Ship a lot
Click Turn
Click Colony Ship a lot
Click Montra
Click Colony Ship a lot
Click Gomeise
Click Colony Ship a lot
Click Homeworld (Talitha)
Click Colony Ship a lot and NOTICE THAT IT WONT QUEUE!
And probably won't ever again for a long while in this game

Do you get the weird looking top queue item that's strangely unfunded? I only seem to get it in my local build, not the installed v0.3.13 version.

No, I don't get it.

I think Gomeisa is the problem.

I've had this problem in my other games with different galaxies as well. My current (probably unfounded) theory goes that it has to do with prior requirements for colony ships and the combination of new research coming in that would be required for said colony ships?
Or something that overrides the production capabilities of all other planets when you colonize a new one, or something Oo

I didn't say Gomeisa is the absolute problem, I just meant in this very game.

I can't enqueue other ships, either. Scouts can be build right away AFAIK.

After a quick test, in which I made a new game with lots of planets and colonized a terran planet in an adjaent system to my homeworld, it seems the issue is switching between systems planets with shipyards and without any shipyards. Any time I have a system without a shipyard, but with colonized planets, visible in the production screen, I can't build any ships anywhere after that. Doesn't seem to matter what order I open the production screen or click on the relevant systems; as long as the colonized system without a shipyard has been open in the production screen, switching back to the shipyard system doesn't reset the ship rows in the buildable items list to make them buildable again.

I'm afraid that's most likely not it either, I've played that particular game quite far and it went haywire without Gomeisa as well. I can't 100% guarantee that I didn't somewhere in that game click Gomeisa though, but I'm pretty sure.
