Spambots really suck. Also, they got around the CAPTCHA -.- .

Maybe adding a question to the registration like
"Which game is this forum about?"
"What month comes after march?"
"What is two times three?"
"Enter 'I am not a spambot' into this field."
"What came first the chicken or the egg?" (Both answers are working

)

I think it's called Q&A CAPTCHA and should be easy to install. Also using reCAPTCHA should block more spambots than the phpBB 3 CAPTCHA.

The q&a worked for me and my forum perfectly. The thing is their bot is generic so they'd have to tweak it just for your forum which is an intolerable waste of time especially if you keep changing the questions as they program in the answers. However to my knowledge the question option first came in on phpbb 3.0.7 (?) this looks like phpbb 2...

It might look like phpBB 2 but it's phpBB 3 cause you are able to change the style to pro silver in your UCP which looks enormously better than subsilver2.
