Depends on your cpu and video card. With POV-ray I usually render just fine at 1024x768.

No, no, CPU power and such is not a problem by any means, i just wanted to know if there was a preferred resolution (I have 3 computers (each over 2ghz) set up as a renderfarm.

Yeah, 10-20 megs. Anyways. I'll be gone the next few days (Trip to the doctors for the last bit of testing, then I have a party to attend to on Sunday). Should be back, with more renders monday-tuesday

Was it intentionally done as B&W? Not that that's a bad way to go... but colour would be cooler ;)

That one was yeah, Because its my wallpaper, and i find color wallpapersi ntrusive, and hence, its black and white..

also.. .I was thinking.. an issue with current ones was the lighting problem.... could we not use grey scale images (for gas giants mainly) and then just tint the images in game?

Try a grey scale, then tint and see how it looks for yourself. If it looks cool, post it, and we will discuss ;)
