I started this thread to let everybody know where I am, and to try and get a feel for where the rest of hte programming team is. We haven't had much activity lately and so I'm hoping things will start to pick up. I'm really looking forward to seeing 0.1 in its final state.

I've not been working very much on FO lately, the reason is that it has been taking my CPU far too long to compile the project, (2 hours to build the whole thing from scratch). I really dont have the patience to work on it when it takes me 5 minutes just to change 3 lines and re-build.

I'm going to be getting a new computer in the next few weeks, which should solve this problem, so once I have that up and running I expect to be back in the swing of things.

JB

That's quite a long compile time, a new system should make a huge difference for you. So far on the programmers list I've heard that Almkaz is back, but tzlaine's been quiet, perhaps away on holidays. After January I'm hoping we all get back on track, since we're so close to a 0.1 release.

I'm going from a 455MHz K6 to a 2.8 GHz P4 so it better!!! :)

Yeah, I'm waiting until the v0.1 release to try again to get the code running on my box. I'm assuming that will be when it's most operable.

Hi,

i'm not a member of the programming team by now. But from the
beginning i loved the idea of joining this great project.

I didn't any programming under Linux since my time at the university
and the company i work for only uses MSVC + WinNT (The MSVC-
debugger is the best i know of.). That's why i looked for a debugging-
solution using Windows. Dev-C++ wasn't able to do the job. I tried
MSVC.NET 7.1 and succeeded.

Now i would like becoming a member of the programming staff.
How can I join?

Ronald.

To join, you should PM either tyreth or tzlaine. They'd be able to set up up and give you write access to the repository.

P4s currently have the edge due to hyperthreading

No if you are really using your computer like compiling or doing 3D stuff.

Well, I'm going with the 2.8GHz P4 because it's cheap, and still way better than what I've got now.

My ideal choice would be dual AMD chips but it's way too expensive right now.
