ehehe. I've got a sneaky little (but good) suprise up my sleeve for you. and it comes with a teaser screenshot. Which, in its test render form, focuses on one object within. It's not a still image, something much.. grander.

Will show more.. eventually

It looks like a craft of some sorts. I shiny craft :D .
But something grander would be a movie...

But I mostly like that sun, I can't get the sun flare to work yet.

Vue 4 Professional, and do you mean the ship itself? or the entire scene?

Lol, do you mind hurrying up and show us whatever that is? You are making me curious, I can't sleep anymore, and I am now addicted to 3 different drugs....

Well, not, drugs are for losers, but still, HURRY!

Well, Its not finished yet, and the scenes that are I'm holding secret. but to keep your cravings at bay for about... 10 minutes or so.

heres a Draft render of a 6 second scene :D. its chagned a bit already, but its a nifty little teaster.

http://lacota.net/silo2.avi

its about 5mb uncompressed avi (not bothered to install quick time or divX yet)

You'll love the final project. If any of the sound team is reading this, I could really use some background music for it. we'll talk via email about it. I have this set out as an "intro"/"title" movie. I might post more shortly. depends on my mood :D.

Looks good, but I worry about the seize of it.
If we have maybe 100 hundred of those , we have already 550 mb only these graphic.
In which type of file will be the finished modells in the game and whic seize will they have??

He said it's uncompressed , usually it's a lot smaller when compressed (a least 1/10).

I recognized some restlessness (noise) on the ground. Is it meant this way (telling about the coming rocket launch)?

I think it's a little bit dark. I'm eager to see all of it. :-)

Thats Raw AVI (basically aa 6 second footage of BMP frames). the compressed one will be *much* smaller. also, it will take a bit longer then expected for a few reasons

1) I'm making my own high res models
2) Work, we're renegotiating our contracts

Blast! It looks great, but it is abit early to be making intro movies...

Also, the intro movie should have alot of space scenes, maybe a battle :D . Anyways, ya, it looks great so far.

Yeah, I know, but it takes lots of time

and it *is* a battle :D

it takes you along what could be called a planetary assalt (my spelling will suck, not enough time to check it).

Heres the basic story board

See Large ship approach planet.
See "Swarm" fly out of ship
Swarm enters atmosphere
Queue defence force
See squadron of bombers attack a sea side city. Fade to white
show shockwave from orbit.
Show that silo scene
see fighters emerge from it (fly out)
Show City fight scene
Show this even larger ship approach the planet
remaining fighters evacuate
see new ship hcarge up
queue stellar conveter
Boom!
fade to title.
FreeOrion.

heh. I need someone with some free time and modeling skills to chip in if they could be so nice. Music would be great too. I hope to have an illustrated storyboard up soon. Gotta finish the models first.

Ciao

I have time and enough skill to make ship models...

I am working on texturing the valley forge, but that isn't a big ship, frigate sized.

Ya, I could help, I have 3d studio if that matters. But don't ask me to do organic models, I am not very good at manipulating a mesh with meshsmooth applied to it.
