If there are no new issues that we can actually do anything about, then I suppose we can call it a release...?

No objection. I didn't have much time for FO last week, but I hope there have been some people doing some playtesting. Apparantly nothing major turned up, so I guess you can go ahead...

Well, traditionally, once you had decided to declare a RC to be the official release, you told me to rename the RC builds and did all the announcements (in the front page news, on the forum etc.) yourself. ;)

If you want, I can do all that stuff of course. Shall I go ahead and do it now? Today would be good, I'm not at work and have a bit more time. Or do you want to give the others some more time to respond (as I've been the only one so far)?

The bugs I found are either fixed or on the list for the next cycle, as far as I can see we're good to go.

Renaming and making a front page post now would be good. To do that, it'd be good if you also made a post like this for the v0.4.5 release to link to... I'm not sure of the situation with Linux builds and whether anything will ever be linkable...

Whatever announcing / posting you don't do I'll try to get to in a day or two.

For Linux, I think the best thing would be to include a link to our Downloads page, in which there are instructions for Debian, Ubuntu and Arch Linux. It seems to me we should also probably add a Compile subsection on the downloads page that links to the Compile page and the Compile in Linux page.
If I provided any code, scripts or other content here, it's released under GPL 2.0 and CC-BY-SA 3.0

Done. Feel free to edit that post if you think that something can/should be said better/different. Shall we remove the old announcement post for 0.4.4 from the top announcement section? It's probably better to keep just the announcement for the most recent release there...

I guess not. Referring the people to the repos of their distros and to the compile instructions for Linux are probably fine/sufficient. Dilvish' suggestions also make sense.

I've made the post in the announcements forum, updated the news on the wiki front page and sent a twitter message.

On sourceforge I renamed the RC3 builds and deleted the rest. On github I made a new release entry and re-uploaded the renamed RC3 build files, and deleted the RC1-3 entries. Unfortunately, you can't rename the release entries on github nor the files attached to them. For that I also created a new version tag ("v0.4.5") in the repo, and deleted the rc1-3 tags there as well.

Anything else that comes to mind I might have missed?

I'd usually update the IRC channel topic with the name of the newest release. Haven't actually been in there in months, though...

Could make a post on the Youtube page.

If someone wanted to make an actual video about v0.4.5 that would be nice.

Master branch test builds for this week would also be nice.

I don't do any IRC at all, ever, so I've to leave that one to you.

Haven't done anything ever on youtube either. Anyway, just logged in and looked around, as it shouldn't be too hard to figure out how to post there, but I'm a bit confused - apparently I can make postings in two different areas, "Overview" and "Discussion". Where should a release announcement go?

Done. :D

A previous release announcement was in Discussion, so that would be fine, I guess...?

Well, there's also an older one in the Overview section, which is actually what confused me. If I had found release announcements in only one section, I would just have posted there, but now I'm not sure... I'm not familiar with youtube channels and how to use them at all, so I figured I better ask. Discussion has the more recent announcement, so Discussion it shall be :)
