Apart from the colours, they all look the same to me, what'm I looking for?

Only natives and monsters look to be different from your linux shot (probably expected, varies across my systems too).
MatGB: The players themselves are in different positions.

Do we mean the same player (ie the humans) is moving around the map? Because I'm seeing Vargas, Mekbuda, Murzim, Nusaken, Balan, Imra and Xanthus in each shot.
NB: if this is happening it is important, my last five games have been variants on the quickstart settings and I'll do a lot more in the run up to Release.

Exactly. The set of home systems that gets selected is the same across all platforms, but the assignment which player gets which of these systems is different. On Windows XP the human player starts at Xanthus, on OSX it's Vargas Gamma, on Linux Nusakan.MatGB wrote:Do we mean the same player (ie the humans) is moving around the map?
Monsters is expected, as they have randomized effects in their content scripts, but natives should actually be the same - their distribution happens entirely in the universe generation Python scripts, which should produce the same results for the same game settings across all platforms.dbenage-cx wrote:Only natives and monsters look to be different from your linux shot (probably expected, varies across my systems too).

Re: Same game settings, different player starting locations.
On closer inspection, the difference I thought was natives seem to be just ancient guardians (falls into monster category for this topic).

Ah, ok, that would be fine. So it seems it's really "just" the differences in home system assignment.dbenage-cx wrote:On closer inspection, the difference I thought was natives seem to be just ancient guardians (falls into monster category for this topic).
