A ship with no sensors. Can it still attack?

A ship with no sensors. Can it still attack?
Are sensors required to attack, to the point that custom ships with no sensors would be worthless? Do ships share sensor info such that a scout can be attached to sensorless ships to allow them to attack, if sensors are needed to attack?

All of an empire's ships have access to the same visibility information, so if your empire can see something, one of your armed ships in the same system can initiate combat with it. Allied empires also share most visibility information.

Bah, thanks. I still don't know the game that well. This thing has a learning curve like dwarf fortress.
I just realized today that I could check the finished ships already in game to see how they're built and none of the basic attack ships have sensors attached, so that clues me in a bit.

When a ship is stationary, you will see a shaded circle. That its particular detection range. For any ship, it can normally see anything in the same system as far as range, but stealth might prevent seeing it until the detection level is improved or local conditions like ion storms clear. When you research Intelligence, the various techs not only extend the range but the level. So you might not be able to tell what's going on at a planet until you research Active Radar or even higher techs.

I share Geoff's sentiment on this. The idea that FO could compare to DF on any level when it comes to complexity or learning curve strikes me as highly hilarious...Geoff the Medio wrote:I reject that assertion.mwobuddy wrote:This thing has a learning curve like dwarf fortress.
