• A Linux test build for FreeOrion (recent SVN version) is now available. This build is reported to work on Fedore Core 17, Ubuntu 12.04, Debian Wheezy, and Mint 13, and is based on the most recent Arch Linux package. Feedback on the forums is appreciated. • Test releases for FreeOrion builds after the latest release are often available on sourceforge for Windows and Intel MacOSX. Discussion about what's being worked on is on the forums. Additionally, there are some experimental builds available on sourceforge for testing a partial fix to a longstanding issue with file paths on Windows systems using non-Latin characters in user names. • Some recent builds of FreeOrion have been released. A Windows installer and a Mac OSX app bundle are available on SourceForge. • FreeOrion 0.3.10 has been released. This is an unstable development update release to keep the community up-to-date with the latest changes, despite numerous bugs also present. • FreeOrion 0.3.1-RC7 has been released. This release has some initial test shipdesign functionality, initial fleet supply route display code, many new tech, special and building icons, and various UI improvements and bug fixes. • FreeOrion 0.3.1-RC6 has been released. This release has many UI improvements, new art, bug fixes, and various minor and medium-scale backend changes. Notable major changes are the long-awaited OpenAL sound system (removing a non-free dependency) and Python AI scripting that can be modified without needing to rebuild FreeOrion itself. The WinXP Installer can be downloaded from SourceForge. Linux users need to compile from source.

• Announcing the FreeOrion Windows development SDK. The first release of this SDK is now available on the SourceForge download page. It contains nearly everything you need to develop FO for the Windows platform except the compiler. Zach 21:24, 2 Jul 2007 (EDT)

• Website Downtime: Apologies for the downtime. It seems that handful of machines attempted a DoS against our site, which alerted our host who shut the site down. I've implemented some safeguards from this, but there's no guarantee that it won't happen again. I have no idea why anyone would want to do this to our site. Tyreth 23:13, 25 May 2007 (EDT)

This release has UI improvements, new techs/buildings/specials content, as well as many behind-the-scenes changes, including a new content scripting system, new turn update networking code, and plenty of bugfixes. • There probably won't be a point release this month since nothing new that is visible to the player has been added. What was done behind the scenes includes a reworking of the effects / techs / buildings / specials system to replace the old XML-based scripting, adding a few new conditions, some GG stuff, and various minor bugfixes.
