This includes both GiGi and FreeOrion source code.
If you haven't already, check out both using Subversion (SVN) and Compile them on your machine.
One way to get immediately into the code and to learn it, would be to try to fix a bug or two (or more!). See bug reports for a list of currently open bugs.
