GetText

Why not use gettext? It's simplier and easy to maintain.

--Elf 08:20, 27 Feb 2006 (EST)

You should probably ask on the forums. It's been mentioned a few times. Geoff the Medio 08:29, 27 Feb 2006 (EST)

Czech translation

Hey, is anybody working on Czech translation maybe? If so, please contact me. If not, I'll be glad to start working on that. --Josef Sábl cz 05:51, 6 May 2006 (EDT)

I've got a little problem. I started translating the language file but diacritics are not displayed correctly. Can anybody contact me to help solve this problem maybe.--Josef Sábl cz 11:15, 6 May 2006 (EDT)
You should ask about this on the forums. Geoff the Medio 20:56, 6 May 2006 (EDT)
Hi, I'm started translation on Czech. If have some first version I get to download. --Beren 15:20, 6 January 2009 (EST)
I'm not sure what you mean by that, but if you want something to start from, get the latest eng_stringtable.txt and translate the strings in it. The latest stringtable is on SVN, here: http://freeorion.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/freeorion/trunk/FreeOrion/default/eng_stringtable.txt?view=markup Geoff the Medio 13:40, 6 January 2009 (EST)

French translation

Hello everybody,

i work at this time (25/10/2006) on the french translation of FreeOrion.

i give it on the site as soon as possible.(in one or two weeks i think)

Bye, Emmanuel

Make sure you translate the most up-to-date version of the english stringtable, available on sourceforge. Also, feel free to post any partially completed translation work you've done; it's not necessary to finish the whole thing before posting any of it. Thanks. Geoff the Medio 08:21, 25 Oct 2006 (EDT)

Hello, that's exactly what i have done ! héhéhé... Ok i will post the file when i think it's quite suffisant for a first try.

Thanks, bye, Emmanuel.

Hello, i don't know where i can post the file ? Can you help me ? thanks. Emmanuel

Put it in the appropriate wiki translation page. Geoff the Medio 12:28, 6 Nov 2006 (EST)

Swedish translation

I've begun a Swedish stringtable and my work so far is at http://www.freeorion.org/index.php/Swe_stringtable.txt. Can somebody make a link to this from http://www.freeorion.org/index.php/Languages? It looks like I lack permission to edit that part of the wiki.

Italian translation

We are an italian LUG (www.elsaglug.org), we started an Italian stringtable and the work so far (two week) is at http://www.freeorion.org/index.php/ita_stringtable.txt. Can somebody make a link to this from http://www.freeorion.org/index.php/Languages? It looks like I lack permission to edit that part of the wiki.

German translation

The german translations are two files, de_stringtable.txt and ger_stringtable.txt. That file is preferential to translate and which is out of date?

In Freeorion is the file de_stringtable.txt more transleted.

There are some description located?

And that did anybody thing over that kind of multi language support for the wiki ----> Multi language support for this wiki?

--DarkSide 10:26, 24 September 2011 (EDT)

I don't know which german stringtable is most up-to-date. Compare with eng_stringtable.txt. All the strings in the english table need translating, and some may be missing or use an out-of-date format, or there may be extra strings that are no longer used in the partial translations.
I'm not sure what you're asking about tech, fight and planet descriptions.
There are no plans for wiki multi-language support. There aren't enough people to adequately maintain the english wiki, and keeping other languages up to date as well would be a big job. Some intro / main pages in other languages might be useful, though. Geoff the Medio 12:44, 24 September 2011 (EDT)

The tech resarch tree for resarching new buildings( parts), constructions or ships, the description they displayed on the [F3] Resarch Window

At example:

Antimatter Torpedo "A fast,long-range missle powerd by Spatial Flux Driver ...."

If my fleet have a fight on a planet, then can i read some information over lost fleet/ship at them.

"Ship xyz are lost at fight on system xyz"

First planet have a second symbol over the colonize buttons
On that screen, you can see on the first planet the symbol over them.
Some other symbols are:

" Computronium Moon, Mineral Rich or Techtonic Instabilty Special"

Is they are in the eng_stringtable ?

--DarkSide 13:32, 24 September 2011 (EDT)

All in-game text should be in the stringtables. Geoff the Medio 13:54, 24 September 2011 (EDT)
