Nice! :D

Erm... I've always thought a colony to be bigger than that. This is more like... just a building. Note that even current oil refineries, military bases, and some manufacturing plants are larger than the settlement in this picture...

Actually I felt that abstraction and a removal from micromanagement may not be a good idea per se. The last thing you need is to abstract the game to the extend where you don't feel part of the empire you're running. In fact, micromanaging a few colonies (e.g. 10) can be fun. What you need are ways ...

By all means please delete this post if it contravenes the rules. But perhaps I should explain *why* I place the story here even when the rules were pretty explicit about this being for Races: Orions are a race. But it really doesn't matter since its the backstory I'm talking about. So this is just ...

- I suggest marking planets to their owners using colour coding. e.g. planet A belongs to Race B, so its name will be in Blue, etc. Icons or more words will only cramp the space. - Its probably just me... but I prefer the (older version?) bars+numerals way of showing planet productivity. - Yeah, foo...

Yeah I must admit Obiwan is doing an excellent job... I just love those pics!

Hmmm. I have no idea how much time it would take to do what I suggested.

Backstory suggestion

Well given that we're not gonna stick all that closely with the MOO "canon", I felt obliged somehow to suggest a backstory, if only to offer an alternative to the current one. Orion Prime is old. Very old. The sentient species that populated the planet started exploring space long before t...

I like the stars in 0.2 better than 0.1 :)

Maybe the star colours should have more gradation in colour so they don't look too much like blotches...

I have a somewhat divergent idea, I'm sorry if it musses up any schedules or creases any foreheads... For all the attempts to create terrain to reflect planetary conditions, I always found it odd that we see so much "natural" landscape. I mean, as a space-travelling, star-crossing galatic ...

Its been a while since I checked with you guys. :D FreeOrion still keeps my hopes up that might be a nice MOO-inspired game out there... It looks cramped. Maybe the font size for the system names can be smaller. Also, on top of having different "star colours" to represent the system, perha...

Thanks, the anime is absolutely hilarious...

If those names are not copyrighted. ^_^ It'll be great to see them on the game, especially if tagged with special planets.

I don't care too much about the system names so long as I can change them as I see fit, particularly those under my control. As for default names, lets have as many scientist names ("Netwon") and even names of Sci-Fi authors ("Sagan") as possible. Mythical or near-mythical areas ...

I happen to like micromanagement. If you need an IFP to limit the player, most likely its because the map is too big - there are too many planets/cities/watever-ingame-production-unit doing exactly the same thing. Consider MOO2: By the end of the game every planet looks like a green gaian marble wit...

Sounding completely like a noob (which I am)... How close are you guys following the MOO, MOO2, and MOO3 storyline? I don't see any Antarans mentioned, so does that mean the backstory is only very loosely connected to MOO2 and MOO3? In which case... why not make the Orions the bad guys (of a sort) i...
