On the subject of ParaGUI, does anyone know why their website takes a heck of a long time to load in the browser? I've only managed to do it once recently, the rest of the time i get bored...

Whatever the Orions and their Other did in their great war of annihilation, they also planted the seeds of new sentient civilizations to come by accident. Their experiments, templates, and genetic material were left in so many systems that by simple chance some etched enough of a living to develop ...

The way I see it, minerals are stockpilable, while PP and RP are not. I see PP as being production capacity. The labour availble on the planet - it's ability to produce new goods and perform services, given sufficient input. If someone sits on their couch all day watching tv, that lost labour is no...

You want money because you are used to it. You simply complicate things this way, you don't make it more simple. Period. :) In Real Life you have thousand different kinds of food and electronic devices, real estate, internet access, hairstylists, and what not, plus seven billion people. In the game...

I guess I feel like this is a case of square peg, round hole. I like the simplicity that emrys and company are going after. It is very much in keeping with our mission and the things we've passed so far. But while I agree with the goal, I think we can make an implemetation of actual money without m...

If we have something called "money" then we think "you tax PP,RP, mineral and food output and get money" and we think "you have money, with which you buy stuff". The result of these two seemingly perfectly logical thoughts is that, amongst other problems, you get yourself into the situation where y...

And i'm with Daveybaby: whats this fixation on PP? That's not a fixation, it's simply that it's easy to imagine stockpiling food and minerals, while manufacturing power, labour, needs a more complicated representation as it's not so material. But, again, let's stop using "money" as there's as many ...

I cant think of a way to make it practical for multiplayer (except for the Moo3 option of running with the AI for n turns before starting the game) but theres no reason this couldnt be done for SP. All you have to do is hand control of the client over to an AI for a number of turns. I've just imple...
