Stargates

Just some random thoughts I have. Bear with me as my brain fart evolves here. Obviously, in my mind at least, they are based on Stargate (SG-1, Atlantis, SGU, etc, that universe). I think it would be cool to include (as an option during galaxy creation) ancient stargates, a couple few of them, scatt...

Re: Technology : Mass Suicide

And if the loss of a planet isn't going to hurt you as much as the other player gaining it, there's always the Nova Bomb.

Re: Luck is overpowered, random-based events must be normali

He's just one of those "pro players" us other players enjoyed having at the tables.

Let's just rename his account to "troll" and get rid of him.

Re: Luck is overpowered, random-based events must be normali

There is no such thing and "lucky" or "unlucky" players. Everyone who plays, including the AIs, will have lucky or unlucky events happen through random chance. No. As I said, some players are more lucky than others on average . I also didn't believe it for long time, but finally...

Re: Add "Real-Time" option

This is very similar to saying "The problem with motorcycles is that they are too tippy. Maybe if we add some more wheels, and cover it over so you can stay dry in the rain, it will be a lot better!".

See also, Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

Re: Question re: Production

The genetic storage building (drawing a blank on it's real name), doesn't cost much at all, but takes a lot of turns. That's probably to simulate the procurement of the genetic material across your empire. Actually, it's for game balance ;-) That's a completely acceptable reason. It was one that ca...

Re: Question re: Production

I would like to see a mechanic where an item in the production queue could be expedited. For example, a ship takes 6 turns and 500 pp (total) to produce (random numbers for easy math). If I expedite it, it would take 3 turns, and 1000 pp. So a 50% time reduction for a 100% cost increase. And while t...

Re: Window resizing.

No, but I shouldn't have to in this case. From my point of view, the window is not changing size. I run it in windowed, maximized mode. But if I do shrink the window some, I'd like them to reposition themselves to the new ratio. I have disabled that option now, I'll report back as to it's efficacy.

Scouting reports

New entry into the Sitrep window. Anytime a scout ship (or any ship really, or scanners in general) discover a planet that is "good" hability, or has a special, it should generate a sitrep report entry. "Planet XYZ is habitable". Or "System JKL contains MNO special". It...

Re: Some notes

It only seems to happen when I limit internet access through my firewall. I have local access fully enabled for FO, but no outside access, and I cannot load or create a game. With the wifi turned off, I can load and create a game.

Closed the lid, waited for everything to hibernate. Opened the lid, logged on, and the windows have shifted:

Window resizing.

FO is kept running, open, and on the top of the desktop (focused window). I close the lid of my laptop (win10), and when I reopen it, log back on, all the production, sitrep, building, and any other window i have open resizes and repositions, not to their default either, but offset from it. As in th...

Re: build list behavior when changing systems

I noticed this too.

It seems after the last building has been selected, and then you switch systems, the list starts at the next item on the list. It might be that the index of the first item to display in the box is not getting refreshed when you switch systems.

Re: Target priority list

If you think about it, a fleet would not approach a destination in a straight line abreast formation. Used to be rather desirable in naval formations, if you could cross the t all the guns along your side could be brought to bear with only the forward guns of the opposing fleet being able to fire b...

Target priority list

I've read a bunch of threads where this topic is mentioned tangentially, but I didn't feel appropriate posting this in any of them. Just an idea I had, thought it may be fairly easy to implement, and give the game some more depth. Feel free to move this to a more appropriate forum if needed. Instead...
