hmm... I dont recall there ever being a thread about stationary system defences only about whether to have system ships. strange, i have seen only few times when truly i have only one world to take and then theres enemy but if you arent so cornered then corner is massive advantage as when middle player gets into conflict with other neighbors you attack him aswell. idea: subspace anomaly
In the beginning of the game map generator places subspace anomaly(s) (cloudlike) somewhere near the galaxy, that cloud slowly starts to move in galaxy and systems that are in that cloud cant use starlanes. IF anomaly is on top of some starsystem its so massive that it covers also neighboring system...

I cant belive it, so good start but still that klackon got so powerful so fast, removed the dragon and wiped me out. Its good that i saved game at turn 1, i want to retry :). I just got super moo2 map generation with impossible difficulty. Its not only because player has VERY good beginning but its very strategical map, almost like human made the map. Also, some intelligent spacemonster groups could be a faction in this alliance aswell. And friendship with this alliance could eventually give them so much trust in you that they let themselves studyed by your scientists unlocking special bioresearches otherwise unavailable. What if the minor races form some kind of guild, so close by minor races can stick together and hold some power, enough to talk other bigger races into letting them live. I like that idea, all weaklings declaring war at super advanced and powerful civ would be very funny and would bring more diplom...

Actually i think balancing for mmorpg would be minor problem, those who join later into galaxy could be ancientlike civs or there could be "slots" in the galaxy managed by ai that could be taken over. But will game handle it and if theres someone who wants and has skill to make necessary c...

I am trying to compile svn version and i have got almost all dependencys easyly but ogre-plugins-cgprogrammanager is a problem. In the compile page repository for that has only up to karmic versions of that. Anyone knows other place where to get it? Edit: aaaah... I dont know how i missed that there...
