Re: Reorganizing Species Descriptions (species Designers Read!)

There's a Wiki page? Adding them now. [edit]I get an error trying to edit the page, here's the entry if it works for any of you. |[http://www.freeorion.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2838 Cray] | Cheerful enthusiastic robots. Physically powerful, extremely intelligent but few in number | align="cente...

Etty

Pithy Summery: The Etty are a race of uplifted immobile plants who use cybernetic technology to overcome this limitation. They're pretty introverted emotionally but also a trading race. They work well as either a major or a minor race. ---- Original Post ---- Not too sure about the history. Etty pro...

AEIOU

Pithy summery: The AEIOU are macroscale life that look like amoebas and they're also telekenetic. On one occasion they managed to achieve an individual with the intellect and telekenetic power of a deity. They're convinced it's still alive (it's plausible) and are dedicated to exploration so they ca...

Re: The Cray

Hmmm, that makes sense. I'm not sure if recreational gardening is the same skill-set as food production but I won't object.

It dosn't change the fact they won't benefit from this bonus. Think that is a problem?

Re: Alternate Backstory (with an eye toward Gameplay)

FO is not supposed to be a story-telling experience, like Spore. Sure we could give them a text field for the description of custom species, but making all the "backstory" text fields editable in-game really misses the point of what FO is all about: it's a 4X game. Why not? It dosn't have to be a l...

Re: Alternate Backstory (with an eye toward Gameplay)

That's what I would like to see, NO backstory outside of campaign mode. In all games, you can access a species 'campaign backstory', or the 'campaign backstory' on Precursors. Campaign backstory is fine by me. Personally I'd like to have one large canonical universe with extra alternative universes.

Re: The Cray

I'm back. For research I think that physically they're a complete kludge but mentally they're one of the better races. Multiprocessor brains are a very nice feature to have. An industry penalty would be appropriate given how economically inefficient their tribal society is. So that can go in :) The ...

Re: The Silexians

Its supposed to be a bit of a parody, they only reference Captain planet when they aren't being nature loving caretakers but outright eco-terrorists.

It would get very corny if we over do it though.

Re: The Silexians

Hey underling, glad to have your approval. Ok, here's my comments: 1) Why destroy all life in the galaxy? Why not just relocate it temporally then move it back once they've finished work? I could see quite a few species who make a deal: Don't touch our planets, but teraform the rest of the solar sys...

Re: The Campaign Mode

still here & I love what you're doing. I really liked the idea of environmental robots, as the juxtaposition of the technological and environmental is not the route most people go. Yes! I too am a big fan of unusual combinations: Hence my robot race who live in a society designed for maximum social...

Re: The Trith

Notice how the dotted two in the top row reverse the direction of their tilt about half way up? Am I over thinking things or would it be a good idea to make that a common element to Trith design?

Overall really good design, fits your stated aims perfectly :)

Re: The Trith

That's an oddly specific definition and not what I had in mind, Its hard to say exactly what vibe I'm getting, its sort of like is staring vacently with its mouth wide open.

It might help to mention that to me the "face" triangle looks entirely like a big mouth.
