Re: That moment when...

Any particular moments in the early to mid game that make your strategic decisions for you? Many moments. My first turns are spent studying researching Nascent Intelligence right away, and queuieng troop ships. So I can adapt to whatever my two scouts find around. As I tend to privilege research, u...

Re: Scattered Asteroid Hull—too cheap and powerful

I think, based on my basic ability to read Python, that they don't currently research it, it's only in techlist.py in the reference list of all techs, whereas heavy asteroid appears several times in different priority lists. If the AI can research flagships it would be really interesting for late g...

feedback on built 2015-05-25.5b90390

Thumbs up ! The new balance of shields is just great : I do (sometimes) lose ships now. The AI seems hendling much better colonization and defense: I faced enemy planets on protection focus!! Globally the game seems to me much more challenging : I had to fight until turn 150+ to get the lead against...

Re: Scattered Asteroid Hull—too cheap and powerful

Same would apply to internal slots, I love Nanorobotic hulls, but I'm always torn as to whether I want more speed or a shield or fuel (and if we do another balancing pass on supply, which I think is needed, more fuel should become a more important choice). I'm not torn. Shield is a must. Scattered ...

Re: Scattered Asteroid Hull—too cheap and powerful

One of the way to limit the "abuse" of stargate jumping could be that your ships might be damaged at each jump, say 30% change of receiving 5-15% structure damage. I agree stargates should be shown on the map. Many times I had to browse planets to remember where on hell I built the closest...

Exactly. Many things are not installed by default in Ubuntu. Now I have a functional built environment with libs up-to-date, and the new unbuntu release is out...

Re: Linking failed libfreeorioncommon.so

Could you save me a bit of time, and let me know what specifically was not up to date? I would love to but I had not taken notes at the time. I will try to explain what I remember. First of all, I was doing that in a pretty vanilla install of trusty, as I had not set yet a complete development envi...

Re: Linking failed libfreeorioncommon.so

Hello, Thank you all for your tips. I just compiled a perfectly working freeorion test built from geit updated master on Ubuntu 14.04 trusty. I had previously the `FreeOrionVersionString()' warnings, referring to some missing libs (requisites are not up to date in the compile in linux page), but eve...

Re: Game balance in 0.4.4 release—feedback needed

then, of course, there's species, and ship parts, and buildings and and and ;-) ) I was thinking about that. Not sure of the real usefulness for gameplay of buildings and shipparts. For shipparts what wouyld be useful is a "ship building simulator" maybe that would allow you to design you...

Re: Game balance in 0.4.4 release—feedback needed

But see the test table; I made some tweaks and it seems to be using the icon directly from github, with the desired size formatting. I adapted the table to your tweak and it's rendering OK. Do you think it is possible to add what is the alt or title function that I was using to put the description ...

I have seen some textures that should be related to some mesh, so there is likely more than placeholders in those meshes.

Re: Game balance in 0.4.4 release—feedback needed

I have to do the uploading manually, file by file, and didn't want to do it all before knowing if you'd be able to use them. I used them in the candidate tables http://www.freeorion.org/index.php/User_talk:MarcOSX . Why had you to do that manually? I guess it is because of the wiki permission stuff...
