Josh, would do a screencast for us?
Hm, July. I feel like a jerk not answering sooner...

The short and sweet of it is I don't know how to do a screencast :) . Much less a good, instructional screencast, but I'm sure I could learn how if it was necessary.

Yep, those planets still look good pd.

Also, whatever happened to the sky boxes anyways? Last I remember, there was something about nebulae and some 2048x2048 pixels...

Re: Weapons and shields

No, you're fine. All comments are welcome. The design phase that deals with actual combat though, is still in it's infancy. It will likely be a while before you see any concrete impact from your suggestions take effect. That being said, the idea that a weapon should be more than "my new weapon ...

Re: Building Icons

Well, to me, it looks like a lump of ore that somebody pulled out of the ground with their hand. If you were to tell me this was a building, I would have a hard time believing you. I can tell you what I might do, and then you can work from there: I'd definitely add some futuristic looking machinery ...

Re: Space Life

Okay I'm game: I've been thinking for a while Space Pirates would make an ideal in game space monster. They randomly go from system to system exacting tribute, blockading systems, causing general mayhem while avoiding imperial patrols. They pledge allegiance to no one (but they might change their mi...

Stuff like this helps, believe or not. Even if artists don't use it directly, it could be used as stock design or just chalked up as thumbnails.

Re: The Trith

Haha, maybe. Obviously the very small fighters are built differently from starships, but the way I've come to understand trith architecture in general is that they like decorative glyphs (or maybe they are not decorative at all?), darker colors, and pointy structures. (and exposed energy cores of co...

Re: Building Icons

Well it's not a literal lighthouse... However, to me at least, that does look less like a lighthouse and more like something else. Mind you this is very enigmatic idea being fronted here, so don't get discouraged if you don't get interstellar lighthouse nailed perfectly on the first try. You might w...

Re: The Trith

The upper left and lower right ones seem to be most trith like, but for some reason they are brighter and shinier than before, and lack the signature energy cores. Have you discarded the dull, bluish matte quality they used to have?

Okay wait, I just need to point out I didn't think I would get answered that quick or.. um... robustly. I was editing out a few points while they were posting, so the replies probably won't make much sense anymore in relation to what I just said. Sorry! Perhaps a fighter part that uses a field attac...

Hey cute. I love how we don't even need to travel to outer space to find truly alien life forms.

Re: Weapon Delivery Systems

It's all very cool, and I like where it's all going. But... It does raise a few questions for me. 1. I don't know where this idea comes from originally, but in much of Sci-Fi, energy based shielding is often depicted as being able to regenerate or re-calibrate itself, some authors and game designers...
