Re: New win 10, orion does not run

2 machines, 2 issues. This is the first machine (win10), whose old log showed possible memory error. Fixed that. The second machine (win 7)showed graphic driver issues. I have reported the error to the correct forum topic. The graphic driver issue was resolved. Thank you. OK, just looked at crash lo...

Re: New win 10, orion does not run

I was expecting to post a "you were right!" to this forum. I have upgraded my computer's memory, found 3 sticks from one manufacturer and one stick of another. Second try, it turned on. And produced the attached crash log. (I still think that if every other app can deal with my old wonkey ...

Re: Win 7, is it still supported?

All is now well, updated drivers, you called it correctly, no oppertunity now to find if another solution would have worked.

Re: New win 10, orion does not run

Thank you for allowing me a better understanding of the problem from a programming standpoint.
I no longer think it would be a simple thing, but want to check further.

Re: New win 10, orion does not run

Would a compile style solution work on windows? Where can I go to #define out the section that checks for bad memory? Because if I can do that, if I can locate the problem, maybe I can find a way to fix it. For instance if a block of memory is bad, just malloc it and set it aside. Or I could learn t...

Re: New win 10, orion does not run

I have no idea how the game detects a memory fault, especially one that has shown up only 3 times since January. It does not show up in start up system test ever. But I am going to presume something like a malloc fail. If so, keep that block, and try again? Most memory faults are single faults. It s...

Re: Win 7, is it still supported?

it is a laptop, so video card upgrade is not possible. It has good main memory for a win 7 machine, 8gig if I recall correctly. and a 1t hard drive. But gets a zero in graphics for the power rating of the machine. It is a ThinkPad E545. Win 7 professional. 8 G installed ram. 64 bit os. AMD A6-5350 A...

Win 7, is it still supported?

The download finally finished, the setup software was run, and the game was attempted. Shut down fast. So where is that error file you need? and what is its name? I was trying to run last September's 4.7.1. I have been away from here for a while and have forgotten what I need. This is a new to me la...

Re: What am I doing wrong?

I now have an up to date freeorion in a directory accessable by command line.
How do I get that to be noticed so that I can click on an icon and install it in a game folder?
I did just check and it is not on the desktop nor in the Games folder accessible by using Menu.
