Re: Dyson Spheres

In any ringed situation you could put a matter accelerator and us it to manipulate the gravity wether as a weapon or to create wormhole temporally between 2 accelorators.

Re: Dyson Spheres

From what i read, this has more to do with energy-collecting satellites spaced far apart around a sun. Building an actual surface around a sun that people could live on would be totally....insane. This isn't Halo, after all. True but for advanced tech, a structure wouldn't be very hard to do or ima...

Re: Ship Crew

But stealth Missions to steal tech would cause additional miromanaging for ship boardingand as far as taking prisoners what purpose would it serve? I mean outside of removing a ship from you fleet to tke the prisoners to the moon base.

Re: Tech Chat

Granted the ring design is cool and does have possible uses in so forms of gravity technologies (ie forming worm holes or defensive and/or offensive weapons to protect it.

Both have there uses but just thought i might ask if it was a possiblity

Re: Ship Builds

so At this point the ship building slots in the hulls work similar to that of Ascendancy as general placement. and have no real bearing on functionality of weapons and other tactical equipment. just the amount of them. so why then at this point are you not using just a size to capacity system for sh...

Re: Ship Crew

but tactics involve the use of a weapon. and boarding is a weapon that leads to a tactical advantage. one that not only eleminates an enemy ship but increases your own fleet. any Good tactician will use every weapon available to to him to make his battle plans.

Re: On ship combat "pseudorealism"

or possible add a system dealing with how the weapons track other ships and make penalties for larger weapons to target smaller ships due to slow tracking speeds?

Re: On ship combat "pseudorealism"

So whats the point in building small light ships if weapons can be fired in all directions?
Large ships would reign supreme and suffer from having to deal with turning or where another ship is?
And where is the balance in combat?

Re: Fleet Status

true it seems like ascend. but sounds that everyone is all over balance but balance in the extreeme will only cause a major imbalance in game play. Like in ascend the star lanes nice balance in design but game play imbalance. but the feet status would allow better flow and if lets you organize and c...

Re: Ship Builds

One question i have is with the slots will they allow something like more powerful weapons to be attached in larger slots ie Huge hulls large slot? how will weapons be mounted as far as if they will have a firing arc of 360 deg or if it will be limited (90,60,45,03, 0r less) and if there are slots t...

Re: Ship Crew

Now I think one point that may be over looked in this discussion is how a crew can be composed. So If the entire crew is made for boarding another ship then who would be trained to repair and maintain the current ship? what happens in the battle if the engines are hit and you don't have engineers to...
