Re: Diplomacy: The Wheel

Sorry for the long delay: I've been busy and then I simply forgot. You do seem to be assuming some things about how empires work - such as that there is one species per empire. I do not, though I see how you might think that given that I used the term race when i meant empire. The c/e is an attribut...

Diplomacy: The Wheel

How about making interspecies relations similar to the EP Wheel? Each Race would have a specific culture/ethics(c/e) Type. Somthing like this: Personal Freedom ----- Wisdom seeking | | | | Personal Power Technocrats | | | | Religion Family/Clan | | | | Duty -------------- Subservience Don't ask me a...

Extensive Testing

HI Guys, I guess freeOrion will be complex when it comes to choices you can make and how they will affect the course of the game. The problem in a complex system like this is that there may be one or a few "master-strategies", which are essential if you want to have any chance of winning. I did not ...

Re: lame generic humanoid vs variations of deformed blobthing

That depends on how you choose your cathegories. You could also say there is the big cathegory A of very humanlike aliens, cathegory B of aliens that primarly resemble a specific earth animal and than there is cathegory C: other. My point is that categories are made up by choosing criteria you cons...

Re: lame generic humanoid vs variations of deformed blobthing

Half and half sounds good No, the problem with that is that while humanoid is a single type of physical form, "everything else" isn't. That depends on how you choose your cathegories. You could also say there is the big cathegory A of very humanlike aliens, cathegory B of aliens that primarly resem...

Re: Ship Experience / Crew Experience

My Problem with the empire experience pool idea is that it forcibly adds economylike effort(after all it's a new resource) to an issue which is about tactical combat. The reason I include decay is because it encompasses the entire range of "crew, admirals, leaders" whatever they are dying of old age...

lame generic humanoid vs variations of deformed blobthing

Hi guys, I've been reading this forum for some time now and I decided to finally throw in my 2 cents. Please overlook my poor english. It's because I live in one of those nonenglish speaking countries you heard about in the tv, without internet and electricity. Seriously, I am dictating this thread ...
