Re: Eaxaw: Artwork

Some thoughts: * the rock/dirt parts shouldn't be asteroids Actually, having them as asteroids makes a lot of sense on a lot of levels. First, these guys are subterranean in nature, and would thus likely want something to remind them of home while genociding around the galaxy - like, say, a caverno...

Re: Building Icons

With a lot of great contributions so far, I take it we'll be using 3D-models for buildings throughout? If so, I just need to know from the Blender-versed people if there's any point in me making models and tossing in, without textures or lights? I've had to learn to use Blender for simple models lat...

Simple 2D sprites? After all, lightning flashes, it doesn't hang around long enough for people to rotate around them and comment "HMM, this looks mysteriously 2D to me!".

I'm still around; just been horribly overworked lately so no free time to spend here. Should be back to normal relatively soon though; so if there's any particular task that needs my help, just point me to it.

Re: Gry music

I love this, especially the way it fades in and out of... "focus", in lack of a better word, during the whole track. It's very dynamic and very calm at the same time, really fitting for space-themed music. If I were to criticize anything, the switch at around 3:00 seems very sudden; althou...

Re: Planatary Dammage from orbital combat

I like it a lot! I've been speculating that platforms might turn combat into "I camp my planet, you camp yours, if you want me come and get me". With something like this, players would have incentive to prevent fleets from reaching their homeworlds in the first place.

Re: Casual gaming and combat in Free Orion

Well, if we're looking pragmatically at things, 10 might be ideal if we assign quick-select buttons as standard, 1 thorugh 0. Not sure if that's wanted, though, as a player may want to group several predefined groups in this manner half-way through the battle. In the Total War games you could contro...

Re: Gry music

Oh, this is lovely. Both with and without bangs are very, very good in their own ways. I particulary like the bits that begins at around 1:10 and 2:00, and 2:30, and 3:14, and... yeah. It just keeps getting better, and better, and better, and better, the further you get into the track. Warning : I'm...

Re: Recent Additions

Great improvements. Also - I've been wondering about this pretty much since I first downloaded FO - will fleets be able to blockade an enemy resource line?

Re: Tech Icons

you may take it upon yourself to design the ship category icon yourself. I have some work available in this arena, if you're interested. Absolutely. These next two-three weeks will be pretty busy for me, but from what I've gathered, nobody's in a rush here - so I'm more than willing to give it a go...

Re: potential new alien fleet

- SNIP - no need to quote, when the image is right above - Looking at this, I'm thinking the whole concept would do extremely well with a more organic look. The ship in this picture makes me think of aquatic creates, maybe a whale or fish of some sort (with the "air intakes" acting as gil...
