By the way, these b*****... I mean, these bad people in PayPal still don't work with Siberia - just like with any other part of a Russian Federation.

From your description (c) looks like it's always a best way to go. As hari pointed out, the other choices are valid strategies. True. But i wanted to say other things. I understand that it's possible to make a system where other choices are valid strategies. I just wanted to say that you described ...

But if the player needs factions to defend against enemy factions, he is face with an important gameplay choice: a: Support no factions, and watch as your empire is slowly devored by foreign factions. Force of arms against the sponsors of these foreign factions would be the only defense. b: Support...

Just a heads up: Sometime next week, I'm going to close this thread, summarize a bunch of different options, and then tell you all what to do. I mean find consensus. I mean overrule everyone. I mean : explodes : Aquitaine (from the 'loopy' category) That's why i'm saying - don't spend time on unimp...

To Geoff the Medio and Drek: Can you write a full complete system? I understand your ideas, but this post is about a faction system, so i don't even know how to comment your posts. Gameplay examples and descriptions are fine and such, but it tells me nothing how it will work. For now, we have only o...

Aq made it quite clear that having different races with different production or other bonuses in different amounts that are added together according to the proportion of the population that is of each races to get complicated sets on numbers of bonuses was not acceptable. Who's saying that ALL fact...

Exactly this scheme has already been rejected for multiple races on account of it's complexity and the difficulty of assigning bonuses to just a single segement of population. The system just isn't set up for it, never has been. An idea of MoO3 factions system is that new factions can be born and m...

Mutliple empires can participate in the open space stage. Whoever wins attains tactical initiative: able to launch attacks on planets and other targets. What if i don't want to participate in open space stage because i will not win and maybe even will not be able to retreat (say, enemies have bette...

SimOrion part of the idea is ok for me, but using AI governors when it's absolutelly unnesesary is unnesesary :D. A much better ideas with governors that HELP player...

Impaler, you haven't played Star Control 2? Here's a link to a demo. I guess we'll hear from you in a few weeks again? :) 4th best PC game. In my list of games Star Control 2 is on a 1st place, 2nd place - Elite (on Spectrum). Try Ur-Quan Masters here - it's a former 3DO version of Star Control 2 (...

IMHO the best way to go is to have ships, planets and the distances between them not realistically scaled, so everything is done on the same map. That makes stealth ships less efficient. Say, if detection range of a stealth ship is small, it can try to destroy freighters even if there are defending...

IMO things should be set up so that colonizing a barely habitable planet isn't worthwhile unless there's something extra special on that planet, like a special resource or empire-wide bonus or a religious relic that makes a native group on another planet you own happy, or other such things. Just se...

Re: Space Combat (madness)

1) I think that system is too big for a space combat. 2) Of course, no spanning of combat between turns. Real time like in Elite or UFO. Auto delay when something important happens. Speed of a battle is equal to a lowest speed setting between players (speed settings more or less like in UFO), there ...
