Re: I'm here - introduction

Ok, so I'm just posting a reply in this thread to express my gratitude towards all of you that work on FreeOrion! It's such an awesome game; open, beautiful, deep and simple at the same time. Have played Distant Worlds Universe, Stellaris, Master of Orion, Endless Space 2, Star Ruler, Sins of a Sola...

Re: I'm here - introduction

That's right, for my particular setup it seems it would be perfect to just change 2 to 3 (or 4) for the ul.x: GG::X_d current_x = (AppWidth() / 2 - ul.x) / ZoomFactor(); GG::Y_d current_y = (AppHeight() / 2 - ul.y) / ZoomFactor(); But I don't have (anymore) the tools/knowledge to compile. I'll just ...

Re: I'm here - introduction

Enjoying the new updates! ...and just realized (after some browsing thru the game-folder) that I could not find anywhere to control/change the "center on object" screen coordinates? The reason I'm looking to change the "highlighting/centering"-coordinates is that I play with 2 identical monitors and...

Re: Free Orion in VR

I know, this might be a dead horse, but regarding VR and focus (eyes to close to screen): That is just not true, it works perfectly well regarding VR and "uncomfortable feeling": That is true to some extent, BUT depends heavily on what games you use it for. Racing games works really good, as do Elit...

Re: Save window locations?

Great to hear Bromstarzan. If you find the time (and remember them), some future reader might be interested in the setup details. Of course! Remember that the below details are specific for my personal hardware config and layout taste. :D My 2 displays are 1680x1050 + 1280x1024, so it is not optima...

Re: Save window locations?

Just to let you know; I've got it all working now:
  • - Persistent windows, and
    - SRWE (borderless gaming)
Free Orion shines in all its glory. Thanks for an awesome game and community!
Really exiting to follow all the ideas and updates!

cheers,

Re: Add "Real-Time" option

The TurnBased-concept of FO is what I like the most. It is executed very nicely.
I do like some RTS-games too, but it would be a shame to take FO into this branch (and I don't think it is going to happen :D )

Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,

Re: Is combat finally implemented?

The whole game is a combat system, right? I really don't see the point in having a separate combat "event" that you can control in more detail than is already implemented (well, it might be subject of future improvements). I'm not sure what the standpoint is today regarding these combat events...

I think by simply adding a statement in your signature it applies automatically to your posts (and previously posted posts).

Re: Renaming 'Objects'

Galactic Index is quite interesting. From this I came to think of GDP (Gross Domestic Product) as a measure we often use here on Earth, so what would be more appropriate than GGP? (Gross Galactic Product) :)

I like the EIA suggestion too.

Re: Renaming 'Objects'

I agree, as I pretty late (as a beginner) came to understand the many more "features" that this "Object search" offers. I now think of it as a situation report, hence "SitRep" could perhaps work? Oh wait, there's already a SitRep window  other that comes to mind (although a bit like "object"): ...

Re: My vision for a Free Orion Campaign :)

A "tutorial Campaign" (like MatGB suggests) could actually be very useful for new players to get the basic grips of the game. I myself had a bit of trouble travelling along the learning curve, but enjoyed it since there was (and still is) a lot of support coming from this forum. I enjoyed learning t...

Re: My vision for a Free Orion Campaign :)

Even I, as a new player, frowned a bit over the keyword "campaign".
I feel there's a "campaign" for every game I set up. I think OP is thinking about some type of scripted events that lead to this and that. Not a bad idea, although I'm inclined to believe it is not really neccessary.
