Re: Let's move freeorion from C to HTML5/JS/Canvas/WebSocket
you practically ask us to throw out the entire codebase and reimplement everything from scratch Not really. Existing codebase already have all algorithms and game logic ready, we just need to copy these algorithms and logic to js (so no need to invent or design anything). Well, maybe there are some...

Re: Free Orion in VR
Speaking of VR.. Closed helmets ("VR helmets") like Oculus Rift, despite all the hype, actually suck balls. The (unsolveable?) problem is that screens are too close to eyes while visuals try to create effect of depth, so eyes try to focus on far objects while in reality objects are at near...

It looks like freeorion devs don't care about stereo 3d mode - https://github.com/freeorion/freeorion/issues/1350

Re: Implement life after death
hi, I think he meant that in sci fi world "ghost" would not be called "ghost" but : "some form of intelligent energy cluster from another dimension" or similar :) (I'm not so good in this type of english...but i hope you got what i meant) Everything should be explained...

Re: Let's move freeorion from C to HTML5/JS/Canvas/WebSocket
You are welcome to implement it. There is no point to implement it until core developers agree to move this path. If freeorion-js will have to be constantly patched to match updates in C or python scripts (forever) - maintenance overhead will easily outweight the benefits. So, I need developers' as...

Implement life after death
Now there is only one 'real world', which contains galaxy and all stuff in it. I propose a 'Shadow world' (or maybe Spirit world or Afterworld) be also created. Initially, Shadow world is completely separated from real world, is invisible and no interaction occurs. All players and currently implemen...

Let's move freeorion from C to HTML5/JS/Canvas/WebSockets
So, why not? I clearly see numerous advantages of this: 1) no need to compile, just download and play 2) freeorion client can be ran from external webserver, so no need to even download 3) crossplatformity/portability guaranteed by browsers 4) FPS increase (canvas is really fast in modern browsers, ...

But those techniques take time and resources to apply Yes, both are included in RP cost. Any empire having Concentration Camps or other tech at the level you propose for this Mass Suicide would already have Adaptive Automation providing more than enough PP to make the required building whether or n...

Re: Luck is overpowered, random-based events must be normali
There is absolutely no way to evaluate how much "good" or "bad luck" a generated number is on the PRNG level Yes. That's why we need intermediate module. So, steps will be like this: 1) Game -> Luck Normalizer -> RNG 2) RNG -> Luck Normalizer -> Game Game will never communicate ...

Re: Technology : Mass Suicide
You can already do something like this: Concentration Camps. This will wipe out your colonies populations within a few turns, but during that process provide you with a massive industry boost. Giving you extra PP to emergency build a lot of ships you can throw at your enemy trying to maximize their...

Re: Technology : Mass Suicide
We're ruling an empire, remember? I don't get why would anyone kill oneself following an order from some emperor. It would maybe make sense for species like Volp-Uglush and George, but not your usual individualistic folk you're caring about most. You underestimate the power of psychology and brainw...
