Hey dreamer (nice nick  ), Hehehe. It kind of defines me, for good or bad. But it's basically the best "describe yourself in one word" that I could find. pd said, "realism is never a reason to do anything in freeOrion", he didn't say "anything which is based on realism won't make it into free...

Realism is never a reason to do anything in freeOrion. Sorry to disagree, but IMHO realism is important. Realism affect a lot the look and feel of the game. If not, why don't we build waky-orion instead?. I think the general rule of thumb say that realism is less important than other factors like, ...

That is not a solution. 2 stars however very near on the map. Will have separate names, a separate set of planets, separate stacks for ships in orbit, etc. To make a 2 star group work lika a single entity (a binary star) a huge fragment of the code needs to be rewritten. But more basically, what wer...

Well, basically we have several combinations of ships for this. Manned (organic/normal): Can be assaulted with crew and taken over with propper tech. Can be disabled with viruses but no taken. Chance that crew can fix the ship. Unmanned, organic): can be take over with telepaths. Can't be boarded. U...

Um helloo.... They gotta communicate with each other somehow. Unless they have completely turned of all ship to ship communications you would have something to tap into. Indeed, but I assume comunications will be very tought to hack is possible, ever heard "military grade encription" or the like. T...

What about my "Dimensional Locking Mines". Cool idea huh. Those are indeed very nice. Whe should device in fact more ways to create somo kind of terrain on space. Some ideas: - Gravity proyectors (to accelerate ships in the area in one direction, could work to make your ships faster and the enemies...

It does not sound that bad. The AI Virus Cannon hacks the target in the following way. If the target has a computer system, a backdoor AI is dropped into the system. It does! What kind of cannon are we talking about? An AI is by escence a pile of information. Comunication of information requires by...

AI Virus Cannon -This AI Virus Cannon locks onto a target ship, infecting its systems with an AI virus. The target ship is now under the control of the player who controls the ship with the AI Virus Cannon. The AI Virus Cannon cannot target another ship without first releasing the previous ship. As...

I did use this tecnic nce or twice, but I found it to be too unbalancing to make it fun. Make a fleet of small ships with a lot of movement and stasis fields. These ships are very cheap to build. Since you play first, move your ships in the mist of enemy ships and stasis them all before they can fir...

MoO had engine tech levels that made it so you couldn't execute hyperjumps greater than a certain distance. I liked that game feature. Just to clarify, this is wrong. You could send ships for trips as long as you wanted (from one corner of the galaxy to the other). You could not send them too far f...
