As the filter screen does not have the bottom right hand resize ability, then you can not make it large again, so basically useless (at the bottom a very very small section of the Done button is there which allows you to close it). Except the Monster belong to the Empire, not the Species.
Maybe add a condition that a Species's ship is with the Monster ?

Soap opera for me is mostly story-telling ...in space! I don't think Star wars is referencing anything about space related physics. But certainly is good soap opera. Different for (hard) scifi, but that is not what we are doing here. Also a lot of good scifi is not about physics but about society. ...

But the matrix that holds the hot air inside needs to be strong and coherent...

That's assuming that it's a rare/unique special, I guess. It is. Spawnlimit is 1. Spawnlimits at 1 shouldn't be in the game imho, they mean too much randomness. The Stable version is playable, but the AI is not very good.

I wouldn't recommend the Beta version for a return to the game, the new Influence/Stability mechanisms are work in progress and they quite broke the game so far (though they're getting better).
