Re: X4 = dead?

*if* you'll put them out on DVD. And if you don't, and this hypothetical "Joe" still wants to buy movies, odds are he'll go out and buy a Blu-ray player. I was happy with my VCR, but when movies stopped coming out for it, I bought a DVD player. If Joe really watches that many movies, the ...

Re: List of all space 4X games

By chance, I found out about a game for mobile devices, Rise of Antares 1 and 2, that seems to be a straightforward MOO(2) clone, judging from screenshots.

Re: Sound crackles / solution

After compilation (Ubuntu Linux), i had sound crackles during game play. They appeared irregularly around 3Hz. I have a sound Blaster 24 as well as onboard sound. Problems appeared with sound blaster. After a while, I found a solution on: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=580726 I just used ...

It's firmly established, and relatively easy to see, that Hungarian is Finno-Urgic, like Estonian and Finnish. There is also a significant amount of loaned Slavic vocabulary. I fail to see how being Finno-Urgic makes it "not an European language", though (?) Both the Indo-European and Finn...

Adding new concepts to the mix other than weapons, armour and shields doesn't necessarily mean the resulting system will be more complex. For example, you could start by scrapping 1/2 to 2/3 of your shield and armour types, lumping the shields and armours together under "defences" and (op...

It's the same game I just mentioned, it's an old favorite of mine. I just found out it has a new Win version, while browsing for links to put in my post, and I'm so glad I can play it again, on XP :)

I really like the idea that weapons shouldn't typically have the space they occupy modified size when refined, instead changing the rate of fire, for example. Not to move the debate here, I'd like to note that with design solutions like that one designing ships can be made an ejoyable activity for p...

BreadMan is right, the way you worded it seems biased at first glance. And it's not nessesarily loading stuff in a chassis, the chassis itself is not less important :) Soo, I guess what I'm saying is, did you have to make a thread only to let us know you dislike ship design? :)
