A market system like that would make the game a whole lot more interesting, but I don't think there is any logical way to make it into a victory condition. I think an economic victory condition should be something you have to specifically go for, not something you get as a byproduct of buying and se...

That's a very good idea Impaler. If there was a galactic stock market that allowed people to buy and sell goods on, then you could also give people the option of buying and selling "galactic shares." As the game progresses new galactic shares could be put on the market at the current buying price un...

Actually binary stars are a good candidate for habitable worlds. Take a look at this page detailing the possibilities of the Alpha Centauri system.

oops, double posted. Based on what I know of message boards in general, I'm pretty sure you can just hit the delete button yourself and it will remove the entire thread as long as you do it before anyone replies to your post. Try hitting the "Edit" button on the top right and checking the box for "...

Ok, sure. I just thought it was rather odd to throw out some arbitrary number of steps up a completely undefined technology tree. How do you know that the 40th step up the tech ladder won't be the invention of chemical rockets and the ability to travel to the moon, or that by the 35th tech the game ...

If all FTL drives were marked in some way then a race could be given the ability to progress through the tech tree and build defensive system fleets but not the ability to expand. Their tech tree could revert to normal after a set amount of turns, after they reached a certain tech, or just until the...

Hehe.. I think utilae has been reading my other posts on this forum. http://webpages.charter.net/Ablaze/smiles/clap.gif On the serious side, one aspect of the game that I have never heard an official word on is whether multiplayer of single player game play will be more important, and I see no way t...

There is another way to completely eliminate the tedium of large scale multiplayer battles. Everything could be text based and take place in an instant, allowing the player to focus on other things.

hmmm.. I know how to KISS.. and I don't even need to use TONGUE.

I think it would destroy the game if destroying a planet and re-colonizing it was barely worth the effort. It would nerf the military victory which is such a central part of 4x games. Unless you want a game in which diplomacy is the only truly viable option.. if so then you are certainly not followi...

Let me get this straight, if you don’t mind, utilae. In your system a minor race looks and acts just like a normal race but is lower in the tech tree. So you could have, say.. the Ugmorrs (Sentient rocks with an aversion to water) kick your butt in one game and the next game decide that they are goi...

I just wanted to point out a couple of points for the sake of realism: 1) The speed that a planet spins has very little effect on the weight of objects on it's surface. Unless your planet was spinning fast enough for a day to last less then an hour you would feel almost no effects. Any planet spinni...
