interesting

Please keep the top-write sketch images of the ships - They look really nice, and it would be a nice touch to have some of these sketches / wire drawings as watermarks or miscellaneous pictures throughout the game... Exen if they are added in a Freeorion install I think they would look really nice.

Realism

The argument about realism does not preclude it's use. The argument is that, if there is a choice between a realistic aspect and a gameplay aspect, the gameplay aspect will prevail. Otherwise, we wouldn't need a sound component since sound does not travel in space, space battles could take a ridicul...

Good / Evil

Who can forget about the Illwrath, the giant spiders who torture their victimes to the gods of Dogar and Kazon... .. And who could forget on the responses you can give to one of the Illwrath ship captains... Illwrath - "We are the Illwrath, we are EVIL, we do as what our gods, the great Dogar and Ka...

Hmm. In my opinion, the second-to-last one looks pretty interesting. Don't forget, we're dealing with alien ships that run into space. I think one of the coolest ships I've ever seen in science fiction was the Borg Cube (from Star Trek) - and it makes sense. Space has no friction, so you need not ha...

Neat Strategy

Did the 2x missile ship strategy, with a twist. built 10 destroyers / cruisers full of missiles, and one small unarmed scout. Then, combat began. Unloaded all missiles on one target, and had the scout run away in the opposite direction. Next turn, unloaded all missiles and gave all my ships except s...

Capships

I guess some of the details of what constitues an escort and what constitutes a capship will have to be fleshed out at some point. What is a capship in the early game? How about late game? Do Capships have a minimum size requirement (ie: they are all battleships or bigger aka Moo2), and what happens...

Hmm - this is a very interesting idea. You have a mix of your stock ships (escorts) that you can mass produce, AND you satisfy the crowd who likes to fine-tune their ships. You can get the feel of having large battles with lots of ships and so forth. I take it would be a little bit like homeworld, w...

Interesting

That could make things simpler for game purposes. By doing this you eliminate the need for specific "outpost ships" to be built. I would suggest, however, that a minimum size be established, so that people don't crank out scouts and set out "diplomatic outposts" on every planet like a swarm of bees....

Freespace

Just out of curiosity, which freespace were you alluding to WWI Aquitaine? Freespace 1 had some big behemoth battles of ships slowly picking themselves apart with turrets and missiles, with fighters and bombers having a larger effect on the battle... 19th century navy battles? While Freespace 2 intr...

Interesting

There are plans afoot for a planet detail screen that would show more detail on these and other meters. Would that be good, or would it be better to have a mouseover tooltip-style detailed readout for each meter? Please answer in the form of a Sourceforge feature request Hey, just wanted to say I r...

hmmm

I think in a way we are all right, but just how we are depends on the situation.... For example, I can build a small bridge out of popsicle sticks and glue. And I can put my toy cars on it and all will be good. Now I decide to b creative and build for my city a new bridge to allow commuters to get t...

Size and structure

well there's an old engineering saying: If you keep doubling the size of a chair, eventually, it will crumble under its own weight. Hence why you can have wooden houses, but not wooden skyscrapers. How does this apply to giant ships? Simple - the acceleration is the same, it's just not coming from t...

Mega-Carriers

Why not have a "mega carrier" as a type of ship that ends up being researched in the 'Titan' class. This way you don't need to seperate FTL ships with non-FTL ships, and you satisfy the science fiction crowd who point that not all ships need FTL drives. Simply put, mega carriers would shoot out frig...
